LOKI Lands RICK AND MORTY's Michael Waldron As Showrunner; How The God Of Mischief Returns Revealed

Tom Hiddleston's Loki was killed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War but a new report from the trades reveals how the God of Mischief will return for his Disney+ series and, no, we're not getting Kid Loki!

Loki has landed a showrunner in the form of Rick and Morty's Michael Waldron. He will write the pilot for Marvel Studios as well as serving as showrunner and executive producer.

Here's the big news, though: despite all those rumours about Tom Hiddleston only narrating the Disney+ series, he will indeed star and The Hollywood Reporter adds that "the show will follow Loki as the trickster and shapeshifter pops up throughout human history as
unlikely influencer on historical events."

That's a clever way to "resurrect" the God of Mischief after his death at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, and it debunks those rumours about Kid Loki once and for all. Honestly, it wouldn't be at all shocking to see him somehow find a way to survive what the Mad Titan did to him.

As of right now, this is the third Marvel TV show on Disney+ that's landed a showrunner as both Scarlet Witch & The Vision and The Falcon & The Winter Soldier have writers attached. Production should begin soon as we're sure Disney will want at least one of them ready for when the online streaming service launches.

Are you glad that Hiddleston will be reprising the title role in Loki? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

huh, interesting. so it's essentially Loki causing mischief throughout human history. I like it, and with a Rick and Morty writer attached it may have some dark comedy elements to it.

@Spidey91 - I like it alot. Smart and not the same old superhero stuff. Certainly will give Hiddleston room to shine.

@Goldboink - hiddleston is only in the series as a narrator

@crawley - Is it so hard to actually read the article before commenting?

@Spidey91 - I don't like the concept in theory. When we were introduced to Loki in Thor and again in Avengers he had zero knowledge of Midgard & depended on his brainwashed allies for intel. Him being the catalyst in human events over time seems like a retcon of his character growth.

@SonOfAGif - ehh, I don't feel it's a retcon. I mean, he doesn't have knowledge of Midgard in the present, but the first Thor movie implied that at some point they visited Earth semi-regularly, that's why they were seen as Gods. Maybe at some point Odin realizes is too risky and tells his sons to cut that sh*t out.

@crawley - Dude, you know the article says the exact opposite of that right?

Now I am interested. This is a clever and fitting premise.

this sounds like a Loki comic run. Definitely the kind of show Loki should have. Seems like he will just be creating MISCHIEF on Midgard throughout time.

I picture him [frick]ing shit up in Ancient Greece, maybe pitting political factions against one another. Then Julius Caesar ends up dead lol. Stuff like that.

@BlackBeltJones - If done right, that could cleverly tie Greek Mythology characters like HERACLES, who appeared in some THOR comics, into the show as Loki messes up other mythologies and cultures.
