LOKI: Marvel Fans Believe They've Spotted A Huge X-MEN Easter Egg In Season 2 Premiere

A newly spotted Easter Egg in Loki's season 2 premiere appears to reference the X-Men, but is this just a fun nod to the comics or something more? Take a closer look and see what you think right here...

We're not expecting Marvel Studios to introduce the X-Men until after Avengers: Secret Wars, though there have been at least a couple of references to them since the Infinity Saga ended.

The X-Men: The Animated Series theme played when we learned that Ms. Marvel has a "mutation" in her genes, while it was all but confirmed that Namor is also a mutant. Marvel Studios is also putting the finishing touches to X-Men '97 and Deadpool 3 is obviously expected to take us back to Fox's X-Men Universe.

The first episode of Loki season 2 arrived on Disney+ last Thursday and some fans believe the premiere - "Ouroboros" - features a not-so-subtle reference to the X-Men movies.

When the show's leads head to the Time Variance Authority's Time Loom, the doorway - which does feature what looks like an "X" on it - opens in almost the exact same manner as the one leading to Cerebro. This could be a coincidence, a bit of fun on the production designer's part, or a deliberate nod to the X-Men which is meant to play into the fact He Who Remains created the TVA from the remnants of countless worlds.

If so, that door may well have once belonged to Professor X and his X-Men! Don't bank on this necessarily leading anywhere, though.

Check out this possible X-Men Easter Egg below and let us know your thoughts on it in the comments section.

Loki season 2 will pick up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.

The series stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, with Jonathan Majors, Ke Huy Quan and Owen Wilson.

Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw and Kasra Farahani direct episodes. The Head Writer is Eric Martin.

The first episode of Loki season 2 is now streaming on Disney+.

The focus was on the door and the manner in which it opened. Definitely an Easter egg

Well, there is a Marvel movie coming out next Summer with a bunch of FoX-Men in it, so... they gotta do their thing.

Feels good to be catching up with this show as it drops weekly, haven't done that with the MCU shows in a long while. Plus the first season on a rewatch was even better. Bring on the chaos. I like what I'm hearing about the next three episodes.

With Deadpool 3 on the way, and the way they've been teasing the X-Men in a few of the shows now, I'd say...

1000% a nod to Fox-Men. First thing that came to mind when I saw it.

First you professional online elites argue about the canon of the BB movie, now you're scratching metal thinking that one door is very much so a nod to another door.
Both doors open, duh.
Both doors are also steel created so it makes sense that the physics and weight of said doors open the same way.
Physics Master Nolanite out.

@Nolanite - Does it make sense that they would film the door opening the exact same way? I mean come on, the only thing missing was a robotic voice saying 'Welcome Professor".

I admit, I thought 'huh, door looks like Cerebro' too, but I didn't think more of it than that.

There was a turd in the background. An Amber Heard Easter Egg.

i would bet its more than a nod. the question is how he ultiately ties to the xmen or cerebro.

It was so in-your-face it was impossible not to make the connection. I’m guessing that it will turn out that Kang is a mutant, or that he’s encountered mutants.

The question is not whether it was a nod to X-Men. It’s whether it is just foreshadowing the future of the MCU, or establishing an influence of mutantkind at the TVA.

Ah yes, it took all of one episode in the new season for us to reach the Mephisto phase.

Spoiler alert: It’s just a door everybody…

@vegetaray - It was definitely a nod to the Fox-Men. Will they do anything with it? Probably not. It's probably just an Easter egg. Like Caltain America's shield sitting on a table in the background of Iron Man 2. I doubt it will have any significant meaning. But it can't be denied that they made the door look very similar to Cerebro's door and they even filmed it opening the exact same way, zoomed in on the door with the characters standing on the other side. The only thing missing was a robotic voice saying "Welcome professor". Nine of that was on accident, or a coincidence. Doesn't mean it has to go anywhere though

That it more closely resembles the 60's/70's retro X, and from the other side is bright red in the scene,

is a bonus.

Obvious X-Men nod. Even the way the Time Loom projects into the abyss reminds us of Cerebro. C'mon.

Not saying it has anything to do with the X-Men story-wise, but the nod was pretty on the nose.
