Loki remains one of Marvel Studios' best Disney+ TV shows, and is currently the only live-action series to receive a season 2 order from the streaming service.
Those first six episodes ended on a major cliffhanger when Sylvie betrayed her fellow God of Mischief by killing Kang the Conqueror Variant "He Who Remains," thereby bringing back the Multiverse and setting the stage for a massive war with countless Kangs looking to dominate all of reality. As for Loki, he's lost in an alternate timeline where the Time Variance Authority is ruled over by a Kang.
According to Backstage, shooting on Loki season 2 is now set to begin this summer at the UK's Pinewood Studios, which means we should see the series back on Disney+ in early 2023.
There's no additional intel beyond that, though the site briefly mentions that the casting department is likely to be led by Sarah Finn and Krista Husar, with Jacqueline Gallagher, Gregory Korn, and Lory Shaye. There's no word on who will direct Loki when it returns, but Kate Herron has already announced her plans to move on from the show after helming those first six episodes.
A few of the show's writers have hinted that they're back at work on Loki, but we don't know if Michael Waldron will return as Head Writer (it seems likely that will be the case, however).
If this production update is correct, we'll hopefully start getting casting news soon. There's also a chance we could catch up with Loki and Sylvie again in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, especially as they're both responsible for there no longer being just one "Sacred Timeline."
