Previous reports have indicated that Loki season 2 will arrive on Disney+ in September, but it seems Marvel Studios may have shortened the release window slightly.
Though an exact premiere date has yet to be announced, Variety believes that Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief will be back on our screens by "mid 2023."
Loki is still the most-watched MCU Disney+ series, and fans are no-doubt looking forward to more episodes - but there is a Kang-shaped spectre hanging over this upcoming second season.
Jonathan Majors has already filmed his scenes as the villain, and is expected to have a big part to play in the story following the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The actor has already been dropped from several upcoming projects, but last we heard, Marvel higher-up were not planning to take any action.
Majors and his attorney are doing everything they can to prove his innocence, but with multiple alleged abuse victims currently cooperating with the Manhattan district attorney’s office, his situation could soon become a lot direr.
If things do go south and Majors is completely blacklisted, Disney/Marvel may have no other choice but to sever ties and recast his character for future MCU projects - but they will still be faced with the prospect of promoting a Kang-heavy season of television.
The season finale of Loki concluded with Sylvie following through on her plan to kill "He Who Remains" (Majors), splintering the Sacred Timeline and causing the rebirth of The Multiverse in the process. We then saw the God of Mischief arrive at what he believed to be the familiar surroundings of The TVA, only to discover that he'd actually entered a reality ruled over by another Kang Variant.
