LOKI Season 2 Set Photos Tease A New TVA Adventure For The God Of Mischief And Mobius M. Mobius

Another batch of photos from the set of Loki season 2 have been revealed, and it looks like the God of Mischief and Mobius M. Mobius will be embarking on another mission for the Time Variance Authority...

Production is well underway on season 2 of Loki, and thanks to Mail Online, we have a new look at Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson as the God of Mischief and Mobius M. Mobius.

We can't share those photos, unfortunately, but they can be viewed by clicking here

What's interesting about these images is that the duo are back in their Time Variance Authority gear. At the end of Loki's first season, the title character was stranded in a different reality where the TVA is ruled over by a Kang the Conqueror Variant. Back in the MCU, the organisation is in disarray after The Time-Keepers were exposed and Ravonna Renslayer fled with Miss Minutes.

With that in mind, we have no idea which Mobius Variant Loki is actually teaming up with here, though it's clear the Asgardian will continue working alongside the group for the time being.

In terms of when these scenes take place, there's sadly no way of knowing right now.

Loki is still the only Marvel Studios TV series on Disney+ to get a season 2, and following the departures of director Kate Herron and Head Writer Michael Waldron, season 1 scribe Eric Martin is taking over the latter's role. That's no bad thing when he penned some of the show's best episodes, and with Moon Knight directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead on board, it's a solid creative team.

There's also no word on a premiere date for Loki season 2, but the belief is that it will be released on Disney+ shortly after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (which hits theaters on February 17, 2023). That movie will see Jonathan Majors reprise the role of Kang, but your guess is currently as good as ours when it comes to which Kang Variant that will be!

What do you hope to see from Loki season 2?

Owen Wilson was such a joy in the first season. Such a good choice.

@LSHF - When they hugged… just bliss. Such a deserved friendship; can’t wait to see more of it.

@MosquitoFarmer - Same here. And I want to add that the writing was excellent, and especially how they got Loki from the type of person he was in the Battle of New York to the end of the Loki series.

I've gone back and watched those scenes a few times.

"I don’t enjoy hurting people. I don’t enjoy it. I do it because I have to, because I’ve had to. Because it’s part of the illusion. It’s the cruel, elaborate trick conjured by the weak to inspire fear." "A desperate play for control."

It was a believable arc through self reflection to learning he can be someone better.

@LSHF - I was curious how they were going to bring the “redeemed” Infinity War Loki into the mix, since Avengers 1 Loki was still 90% villain. I still feel it was a little cheap that it was done so suddenly and easily, but all the same, the rest of the journey was great. They had to do it.

@MosquitoFarmer - Interesting points.

Here are my thoughts:

1) In Endgame, the "redeemed" Loki may have just made those decisions for self-preservation, so how "redeemed" was he at this point of the game? We don't really know. I know a f#ckton of people stated this was his "redemption" moment, but we don't really know that. Is trying to kill the person who might kill Loki really an act of redemption or self preservation?

2) It was verified by Kevin (or one of the MCU powers-that-be) at some point that the Loki in the Avengers film was under the spell of the scepter that Thanos loaned him. Otherwise, he would not have been as bad as he was.

So, going into the Loki series, the spell he was under at that time would still be wearing off. Yes, he was a %^#)*#$# in the first film, and, for all we know, he was still the same when Thanos killed him. After all, he "did" steal the tesseract from Asgard for his own purposes. Again, we really don't know how "redeemed" he was.

3) Yes, it was done suddenly (it caught me off guard) and easily, HOWEVER, I seriously suspect that almost anybody, knowing how it's going to end for them, would have some major self-reflection.

And many people who experience the death of someone dear to them have changed, so how much more likely would it be that Loki, realizing he has wasted most of his adult life on selfish plans that would never come about, and "then" seeing himself "die", would start changing then and there.

And he did change, to some degree, but he still spent most of the episodes being a trickster, wanting to unseat whomever who controlling the TVA, so maybe his arc was not so "easily" done (depending upon your definition of "easily" as it pertains to this story).

And, yes, the fans wanted Loki redeemed and back in action, so they had to do it.

I had to watch is "arc" at least three times before I really began to appreciate the writing in it. The more I thought about it, the more sense it made.

@LSHF - your 3rd point is the most important imo
MosquitoFarmer
MosquitoFarmer - 7/12/2022, 7:58 PM
@LSHF - I think it was darn good, and the more you sit with all the facts of the circumstance it works very well. But I guess it’s just that they had to jump a 2-phase arc into ultimately several minutes is abrupt.but given the circumstances, it’s rather well handled and very effective. Still, given Loki as we knew him then, it’s a big jump. The scepter being a factor is a great point, though he was still a screwball before and after it got in his hands.

(I wanted and expected them to get back to the Loki we’ve come to properly love, but to do it all in a fraction of the first episode is a large journey that took a long while otherwise. Not complaining; can’t wait to see him go on, though don’t know we will ever get a definitive and meaningful send off for him at this point, whenever that may come.)

@Fogs - I'm glad it made sense (I don't always explain things very well).

My thoughts at that the first two points applied to fictional characters with motivations never being 100% known, but the 3rd third point is "not" a fictional issue (like the first two) and is a real very thing that happens, whether the writers of Loki were considering that or not.

I like to think that they were.

@MosquitoFarmer - I agree, it's just that I don't rarely think about anything that threw me off or "for a loop". And when those thoughts "do" come to mind, I throw them off and ignore them.

For example, they remind me of someone sitting next to me while watching it and pointing out everything that he had problems with, which I don't want to think about as I just want to enjoy it. So, he would become irritating and I would want to ignore him.

Meaning, I sometimes end up ignoring myself while watching these films and shows! True story. I don't want to hear or think about what isn't, but just enjoy what is. So, I understand what you are saying; I just don't entertain those thoughts after they initial appear in my head.

But them I'm not normal and have issues.

@Vigor - the first two seasons are kind of slow but worth it. Very slow build up and then things really take off.

Can’t wait to watch this and then rewatch Breaking Bad right after. See how it all works together.

Hopefully no Sylvie like side character. Just focus on Loki & Mobius as a dynamic duo and go from there. The best parts of Loki S1 were the Loki & Mobius moments.

Waldrons best work is still Loki. And after MoM I'm kinda glad Eric Martin is leading writing duties, although I think Feige is way more to blame for a chopped up Doc 2 film. Benson and Moorhead were far and away the best directors on Moon Knight. I just hope we continue the main story and Kang is involved.
