Marvel Studios debuted the first trailer for the second season of Disney+'s Loki yesterday, and while the teaser was fairly light on major reveals, it did contain a few moments that have prompted a lot of discussion online.

Arguably the most talked-about shot was a brief glimpse of a line of people queuing for the premiere of a movie titled Zaniac!

This supervillain was introduced in the pages of Thor back in the '80s as a demonic entity sent to Earth by Dormammu. Zaniac originally possessed a man named Tom Malverne, who would go on to become Marvel's take on Jack the Ripper, Later, he took control of an actor named Brad Wolfe, who gained super-strength and the ability to conjure knives out of raw energy.

Wolfe's name was previously spotted on a movie poster in some leaked set photos, so there were already theories that the character could play a part in season 2's story. Blindspotting star Rafael Casal is the only new season 2 cast member whose role has not been disclosed, which has led to speculation that he will be playing Wolfe, aka Zaniac.

Have another look at the trailer below, and let us know what you think.

Loki season 2 "promises new excitement as it thrusts the infamous God of Mischief into a new set of adventures with the TVA."

The series stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, with Jonathan Majors, Ke Huy Quan and Owen Wilson.

Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw and Kasra Farahani will direct all six episodes.

The head writer is Eric Martin. Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Kevin R. Wright, Tom Hiddleston, Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Eric Martin and Michael Waldron are the executive producers, with Trevor Waterson serving as co-executive producer.

Loki season 2 begins streaming on October 6, exclusively on Disney+.

I mean, it could just be an Easter egg of the comics.

I heard somewhere marvel does that a lot.

@Origame - I was thinking the same. There are lots of easter eggs in these productions. It seems likely that this is one of them.

He’s a Zaniac , ZANIAC…on the floor!!.

Kidding aside , I think it’s moreso a fun Easter egg to the comics but I do think Rafael Casal is playing Brad Wolfe who might be pivotal to the point in another way…

Maybe he’s another time criminal that escaped from the TVA?.

This show reminds me of White Collar. Loki is just Neal Caffrey.

Zarrko the Tomorrow Man would also be a good fit for this show, maybe S3.

As I have VERY VERY LOW expectations for MARVEL STUDIOS projects as of late and have unfortunately been proven correct. I say IF there's a way they can Muck this up with pushing LGBTQ narratives etc, they WILL and then blame TOXIC FANS for not tuning in to the show

@JohnShaft - Curious how you'd define "pushing LGBTQ narratives."

@JohnShaft - Disney has lost millions and millions, none of their movies make money, the shows have sucked donkey balls. I wonder why? You would think they notcied Bud Light, Target, and anything else of that nature.

@KillerOfSaints - Who proved what point? What are you talking about? Either y'all don't have an answer, or you do, but you're not willing to say it in a public forum for . . . some reason.

@ClintThaHamster - I think hes saying that they've been adding that nerrative so that if the show or movie does poorly they can blame the fans by saying "they only hate it because theyre toxic & hate the LGBT community" but yeah, as long as they keep focusing on pushing a message instead of telling an amazing story with wonderfully written charecters regardless of gender, race or sexuality & they make that their whole persona & story of the movie then they will continue to lose... IMHO.

@AliX - 'I think hes saying that they've been adding that nerrative so that if the show or movie does poorly they can blame the fans by saying "they only hate it because theyre toxic & hate the LGBT community"'

Just so you know, that's kind of insane. No one is hedging against failure by adding LGBTQ storylines. That's simply not happening.

"as long as they keep focusing on pushing a message instead of telling an amazing story . . . they will continue to lose"

Genuinely curious, what are some recent examples where this has happened?

@ClintThaHamster - Bud light, Target, that latest movie from Disney with the non-binary cartoon character etc. Do you live under a rock? Im sure you are not dumb and you are fully aware of the climate when it comes to pushing the progressive transgender alphabet people narrative. This doesn't even include all the gender swapping and white washing. Keep it away from the kids.

@KillerOfSaints - "Im sure you are not dumb and you are fully aware of the climate when it comes to pushing the progressive transgender alphabet people narrative."

If by "the progressive transgender alphabet people narrative" you mean "acknowledging that queer people exist and deserve the same rights and protections that cis-gendered straight people enjoy, then yes, I am aware, and I am onboard.

@ClintThaHamster - What rights do I have that they dont?. Ill wait.

@KillerOfSaints - In the US, it's legal for businesses to refuse service to LGBTQ folks on the basis of their gender identity or sexual preference in 30 states, and the Supreme Court has repeatedly upheld businesses' right to refuse service, even in states that have explicit protections, as recently as June of this year. 19 states have RECENTLY passed laws limiting trans folks access to healthcare, with more bills being proposed every day.
