Loki never shied away from introducing some weird and wacky elements, but showrunner Michael Waldron has now revealed that one idea was considered just a little too bizarre for the already pretty out-there Disney+ series.
What could be stranger than an alligator Variant of the God of Mischief? How about an armadillo with a laser mount!
While chatting to the Ringer-Verse podcast, Waldron outlined a sequence that would have taken place in episode 3 involving Sylvie being attacked while attempting to infiltrate Hunter C-20's consciousness.
"Once upon a time, the opening of Episode 3 – when Sylvie is attempting to infiltrate Hunter C-20's mind – that actually turned into kind of a fight sequence where the TVA had defences in place. So there are people in the memory, and the beach bar actually turned on Sylvie and were attacking her, and it got crazier and crazier – and there were little kids attacking her, and then I literally wrote in that an armadillo with a laser mounted on it comes [into] the beach bar and is firing, and Sylvie kicks it like a soccer ball out into the ocean. That was in a script."
The scene was ultimately scrapped, and Waldron implies that Marvel's Kevin Feige finding the whole thing a bit much might be the reason why. "Kevin [Feige] often references that to me," he laughs. "He's like, 'That might be the bar for [being] too much.'"
Honestly, it really doesn't sound that bonkers, especially for a show like Loki. Maybe the Laser-Dillo (yes, that's his name now) will show up in season 2!
