LOKI Spoilers: A Shocking Death And Huge Cliffhanger Set The Stage For An Epic Final Two Episodes

Loki's fourth episode ends on a massive cliffhanger, and this time, it could have dire consequences for the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe! We're also willing to bet you never saw this

And with that, Victor Timely is no more.

Yes, despite He Who Remains seemingly believing his Variant from the past could take his place in the Citadel at the End of Time, the fourth episode of Loki featured the shocking death - and spaghettification - of the Kang Variant!

With the Time Loom reaching breaking point thanks to the emergence of so many new branching timelines, the Temporal Radiation reaches a critical point. Victor shockingly volunteers to do what's necessary to save the day (it seems not every Kang is bad), only to step outside, heroic music and all, and immediately die.

It's then too late; time itself breaks and, as the episode ends and the screen cuts to black, it appears our beloved heroes are gone. Is this the end of the MCU as we know it?

We'd guess not! In Loki's trailers, we've seen more of the God of Mischief slipping through time, and even the TVA itself seemingly undergoing the spaghettification process. Something tells us the Asgardian will have one final chance to save time, though we can't help but wonder what the end result will be.

Marvel Studios has always played fast and loose with Loki's place in the wider MCU timeline but it's obviously believed He Who Remains' death is what led to the Multiverse's rebirth. That would thereby explain what we saw in movies like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

If so, it likely means Loki isn't done setting the stage for those stories yet, so whatever comes next could help clear up a lot of the Multiverse Saga's biggest mysteries.

We're also not discounting the possibility that He Who Remains wanted this to happen. Earlier in the episode, it's revealed that OB based the TVA's Handbook on Victor's work, while Victor based his work on OB's TVA Handbook, creating a rather confusing time loop!

Something tells us there will be plenty more surprises to come over the next couple of weeks.

Loki season 2 will pick up in the aftermath of the shocking season finale when Loki finds himself in a battle for the soul of the Time Variance Authority. Along with Mobius, Hunter B-15 and a team of new and returning characters, Loki navigates an ever-expanding and increasingly dangerous multiverse in search of Sylvie, Judge Renslayer, Miss Minutes and the truth of what it means to possess free will and glorious purpose.

The series stars Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, with Jonathan Majors, Ke Huy Quan and Owen Wilson.

Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw and Kasra Farahani direct episodes. The Head Writer is Eric Martin.

The first four episodes of Loki season 2 are now streaming on Disney+.

My jaw literally dropped open...

My hunch is that VT literally IS HWR and that his spagettfication is what drops him into the 31st century, perhaps? Somehow?

@ptick - I think the temporal radiation is how he going to get his powers.

@ptick - agree

Think everything was a setup from the jump hence why Renslayer absolutely HAD to deliver the manual at THAT specific moment and why Timely was so eager to jump into the fray on the loom

Seems like a giant macro-play congealing to me

During the scene of Loki talking to Slyvie in the Pie restaurant. Sophia's acting is terrible

@RockReigns - she generally kinda sucks. Wonder if it’s her or the showrunner. Was good in the McDonalds stuff though

@RockReigns - She's been terrible all of Season 2, I loved her in Season 1. I blame her material, her chemistry with Loki is S01 was off the charts. Here it's non-existent, in fact, negative. I'd go as far as to say S02 would've been better if she wasn't in it.

@SauronthePower - is it her acting or is it you dont like where her character is at this season. cause she and loki are on eggshells vs all that chemistry from before. i dont see a problem with her acting.
SauronthePower
SauronthePower - 10/28/2023, 12:28 AM
@supermanrex - there is something not-great about her delivery and it is very difficult to trace down to a tangible

Perhaps it’s just raw charisma, but she has always been really flat in this series to my mind (for whatever that’s worth)

I don't think they are going to reset the cinematic MCU in the Loki show that a lot of people don't even watch

The writing on this season of this show is just not there for me. I literally skipped ahead until I saw something interesting happening on the runtime. I can't sit through another conversation where nothing happens and everyone just bullshits about "time (insert)"

Very weird that I ended up enjoying this less than Secret Invasion. The TV side revamp can't come soon enough.

I said this last week, that you will all be in for surprise this week, I also said some might see what is coming.

Timely's Death is what I was hinting at and another Kang variant died.

Kang is such a scary threat.

@marvel72 - If you kill your enemies, they win. Kang is unbeatable at this point.
marvel72
marvel72 - 10/26/2023, 11:20 PM
@HashTagSwagg - Don't you think it actually hinders the threat level. Didn't the Kang in Ant-Man 3 say something along the lines of he had defeated a team of Avengers and Scott if he was the one with a hammer.

That Kang was defeated by Ants,Ant-Man And The Wasp.

Weak.

HashTagSwagg - 10/26/2023, 11:51 PM
@marvel72 - I'm wondering how the counsel of Kangs had such a hard time with that exiled Kang when after all this time, all it took was a couple of ants.
ShimmyShimmyYA
ShimmyShimmyYA - 10/27/2023, 12:49 AM
@marvel72 - quantumania wasn’t superb but you both are purposefully misrepresenting the Ant part
SauronthePower
SauronthePower - 10/28/2023, 8:27 AM
@ShimmyShimmyYA - exactly

He had literally been dealing w threats from 900 different angles and THEN a literal swarm of evolutionarily-accelerated hive-mind ants AFTER being compromised

The thing w Darren’s forced ‘redemption’ and the Wasp kick were, in all fairness, terrible however

Disney+ is pure shit overall but goddamn Loki is the exception!

Everything from the writing to the casting, directing, and cinematography is top choice.

If only the rest of the Disney+ series was as good as this.

SauronthePower - 10/26/2023, 11:49 PM
@TheLobster - I absolutely HATED Season 1 and detested the opener of this season

With that all being said, the last three episodes have been among the best of anything that the MCU has released specific to D+
TheLobster
TheLobster - 10/27/2023, 12:11 AM
@SauronthePower - I loved the first season overall but I’m glad you’re enjoying these episodes.

If they stick the landing with the final 2 episodes - then we will be in for one of the best Marvel offerings post-Endgame. Not a big feat but still!
DrReedRichards
DrReedRichards - 10/27/2023, 1:25 AM
@TheLobster -

There have been scarce figments elsewhere but no MCU D+ show has been excellent in its entirety this far; not even Loki.
TheLobster
TheLobster - 10/27/2023, 1:49 AM
@DrReedRichards - disagree. Is Loki a perfect series? Nope

Is is a fantastic series? I would say yes.

I’ve been saying Marvel is on a sharp decline for the last 3 years so it’s not like I’m an MCU fanboy. I just really love Loki as a series and it’s one of the very few things working for the MCU post-Endgame IMO.
DrReedRichards
DrReedRichards - 10/27/2023, 1:57 AM
@TheLobster -

Bad wording from my part, so let me rephrase.

When I say that not even Loki is excellent I do not mean that as an insult, by any means. Its 1st season is still my favourite part of the MCU's D+ projects, with Moon Knight and WandaVision tied as second.

And What If takes 3rd place, but that's not a discussion I'm allowed to have here.

HulkisHoly - 10/27/2023, 11:32 AM
@TheLobster -

Agreed 1000%

Loki is the most original and unique thing the MCU has produced and was the smartest move forward post EG. It redeemed a villain, introduced the multiverse in an intelligible way, wonderfully introduced a menacing threat, etc.

Season 2 definitely isn’t as good as season one in my opinion. I think it’s pretty obvious there wasn’t enough story to tell to constitute an entire season. Everything we’ve seen so far could have been told in one episode honestly.
Variant
Variant - 10/27/2023, 4:09 PM
@DrReedRichards - Your ranking is similar to mine.

1. Loki
2. WandaVision
3. Moon Knight (very close to WV!)

Then I would go

4. Werewolf by Night
5. Hawkeye
6. Falcon and the Winter Soldier

And that isn't to say everything below this isn't good. I still loved What if... and the other shows. I think the only show that truly disappointed was Secret Invasion. Which pains me to say.
