LOKI Star Tom Hiddleston Says He Hopes The God Of Mischief Coming Out As Bisexual Was "Meaningful To People"

Although quite a few people missed it at the time, Disney+'s Loki did indeed confirm that the title character is bisexual.

During the third episode, Sylvie asks The God of Mischief about his past lovers: “How about you? You’re a prince. Must’ve been would-be-princesses or, perhaps, another prince?” Loki then replies, “A bit of both. I suspect the same as you.”

Understated as this exchange may have been, the implications were clear, and it established Loki as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first LGBTQ+ lead. Star Tom Hiddleston was asked about making the transition to the small screen during an interview with The Guardian, and said he hoped the reveal resonated with "people who spotted it."

"I was just really honoured to be asked," he said of reprising his MCU role for the Disney+ show. "We all wanted to retain the integrity of the character – I wanted to make sure we didn’t lose the bits that people loved, while doing something new. I also hope Loki coming out as bisexual was meaningful to people who spotted it. It was a small step, and there’s further to go. But it was definitely important to all of us."

It remains to be seen if Loki's sexuality is addressed again moving forward, but with Sylvie as the current object of his affections, it may not even come up (pardon the pun) in season 2.

We still know very little about Loki's next small-screen adventure, but Michael Waldron will not be returning as head writer/showrunner, so the second season may turn out to be a very different beast altogether.

My heart truly goes out to members of the LGBTQ community who have to read all the anger online whenever they get even the slightest acknowledgement in popular media. I'm not even sure how much that representation matters to them, but just seeing the anger has got to be hurtful on some level. So many people choosing to act like garbage over the littlest things

@OmegaDaGrodd - Yeah it's not pretty on social media, but I actually think this community is pretty respectful for the most part.

@RorMachine - As stupid as some members of this community get on a regular basis, it definitely pales in comparison to the idiocy on social media.

@OmegaDaGrodd - Ah right. I heard a guy go on a ten page tangent on why dinosaurs dont exist, and how that relates to transgenders.

@Randomusername - Yep, that's why I said "for the most part." There will always be a few, but this is a pretty big community, and most people tend to be at least civil - especially when compared to social media sites.

@RorMachine - You and I see things differently. The amount of degenercy i've seen on here. Tut tut. Dont get me wrong, its gotten better in the last year or so.

@Waddles - It was that Badoptics degenerate. Another in denial fool living in his fantasy world to ignore the truth of existance.

@Randomusername - I think it's always a very vocal minority honestly. It's like the Snyder gang, if you read everything they're saying it seems like it's loads of them but it's usually the usual suspects

@GhostDog - the MCU Loki has nothing to do with Edda or Marvel Comics Loki. He's an entirely different character. So that's a shitty point. Since if you want to use the version of Loki from Eddas to justify some pointless shit in the MCU, why won't you remind us how Ragnarok went in Eddas and which role Loki plays in it?
