Tom Hiddleston's Role In Disney+'s LOKI Series Rumored Be Much Different To What We Imagined

We know that Tom Hiddleston will return as Loki in the upcoming Disney+ series but a new rumour points to the actor having a very different role in the series to the one we imagined. Read on for details...

Marvel Studios is currently developing a Scarlet Witch & The Vision series for the Disney+ streaming service alongside one revolving around Loki and That Hashtag Show's Charles Murphy has now shared a rumour about plans for the latter.

While Tom Hiddleston has confirmed that he will return as the God of Mischief, the writer claims that the actor will actually serve as a narrator in the series and that means a younger actor will be cast as Loki to tell a story from the villain's past. He cautions that this is just a rumour for now and nothing has been confirmed but it definitely leaves us with a lot to think about.

It would certainly be a ballsy move by Marvel to cast a new actor as Loki as Hiddleston has such a devoted fanbase but a Kid Loki series (similar to that awesome comic book series from a few years back) would be a lot of fun to see and opens the door to cameos from a young Thor and even Anthony Hopkins' Odin.

We'll have to wait and see whether or not this pans out but with production on the shows expected to begin later this year, things could start becoming clear sooner rather than later. Thoughts?

I hope that doesn’t turn out to be true. Woof.

Bit of a let down then.

@TheDpool - well hes still involved. And its unreasonable to expect a movie actor to have a starring role in a regular tv series.

@Origame - In this day and age? It really isn't.

@Origame - Tom Hiddleston did a 6 episode series called ‘The Night Manager’ in this day and age it isn’t uncommon, big networks/companies pay big bucks for the stars.

@Whaley87 - guest spot maybe. Not a full series.

@IKidYouNotMan - thats a mini series. Basically a longer movie with commercial breaks. This show is gonna be a mutli season affair.

@Origame - as far as I’ve heard, these Marvel shows are going to be limited series and with their budget and star caliber, I imagine they could be anywhere from 6-10 episodes.

@IKidYouNotMan - the fact they're working it so tom only has to do voice work is proof enough that they arent just having this be limited. Unless you can provide a source.

@Origame - “the fact” let’s not pretend that this is an official confirmed report on what’s happening. If it is a regular series (whatever that means these days) then, yeah I can’t see an actor like Tom Hiddleston sporadically filming one project for 6 months out of the year and a voice over makes sense. But my original point is that it’s more likely that Disney is going to give us multiple “limited” series on characters where some may or may not get multiple seasons. Rather than a 22 week release prime time quality television show.

@IKidYouNotMan - 1) so you admit that you had nothing to go on for the assumption that these are meant to be limited series. Ok.

2) that means intended for multiple seasons. Thats what i and literally everyone else means by that. Miniseries arent nearly as common as you make them out to be to just assume thats a reasonable possibility without confirmation.

3) no, that actually doesnt make sense. Why would they make several shows that they have no intention of extending to multiple seasons in order to grab interest in their service?

4) may or may not get multiple seasons? So any basic show. Thats not a limited series. A limited series is 6 episodes max. No intention to expand. And thats an important distinction because even if a season 2 of loki isnt guaranteed, youd still want to make sure your star is locked in for however long you can. Ideally shows plan for about 4 seasons. Thats the commitment they would expect from hiddleston even if they dont know it will be successful. You really think they'd get that from him in a starring role?

@IKidYouNotMan - yeah, none of this says that itll be miniseries. Just that they'll start off with 6 or 8 episodes. Walking dead started off with 6 in its first season. And 8 was a possible episode count for a number of netflix mcu shows before they settled on 12. This tells me nothing.

@ThePott - I had no interest in a Loki tv show starring Hiddleston, I like Loki in the movies, but I just don't see the point of a Loki tv show, he should just stay dead for a while or for good in the movies, but a Kid Loki show would be even much less necessary or interesting, I would rather want a tv show for characters that have not appeared in the movies yet (Blade, Moon Knight, Ghost Rider, etc).
