It’s been over six months since filming began for Marvel’s next standalone Netflix series, Luke Cage, and it now appears principal photography is still well underway in New York City. The latest batch of set photos come courtesy of First Look (via MCU Exchange) and they feature leading man Mike Colter, as well as Rosario Dawson, who returns as Claire Temple, and newcomer Simone Missick, who is joining the small-screen Marvel Cinematic Universe as the superheroine Misty Knight. The photos show Colter’s Power Man wielding a manhole cover with ease, while Claire Temple, Misty Knight, the NYPD and several other extras gaze.

After a sabotaged experiment leaves him with super strength and unbreakable skin, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) becomes a fugitive trying to rebuild his life in modern day Harlem, New York City. But he is soon pulled out of the shadows and must fight a battle for the heart of his city--forcing him to confront a past he had tried to bury.

Starring Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Mahershala Ali (Cornell "Cottonmouth" Stokes), Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple ), Simone Missick (Misty Knight ), Theo Rossi (Alvarez), and Alfre Woodard (Mariah Dillard), Marvel's Luke Cage is produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC Studios for Netflix, and will premiere in 2016 with Cheo Hodari Coker serving as the showrunner.

Haven't finished Jessica Jones yet but are they going to explain how they got their powers?

Dang! I'm hoping this is even better than DD and JJ, I remember a while back Joe Quesada said he recently saw the first couple of scripts for the show, and they were awesome. It came off as a very genuine fan reaction. I think there's a good chance Luke Cage might exceed expectations, but for now I have to say DD is king for me.

Yes!!! The community has always known about Luke. He's their protector and he never hides from that in the comics.

l just finished the second season of Daredevil and am now looking forward to this. I personally wasn't a fan of Jessica Jones, but hopefully Luke Cage will be more like Daredevil and less like Jessica Jones.
