Isaiah Mustafa Does "Luke Cage" Photo Shoot Further Promoting Becoming The Guy For Hire

Knowing that it's in Marvel Studios' intention to someday adapt the Power Man, Luke Cage, to the silver-screen, Isaiah Mustafa, particularly known for witty Old Spice commercials, has expressed interest in being the man for hire. And aside from doing just that on G4TV last month, hes been holding Facebook Promotion, in which 30 more people need to sign up to that page before we get a certain "surprise". Now Mustafa has played along with a photo shoot with "Luke Cage" in mind, for Ryan Flynn Photography. Check the out photos below, and behind the scenes of the shoot even lower.

With Luke Cage, the Power Man, being superhumanly strong, able to lift/press approximately 25 tons and punch through barriers as thick as four-inch steel plate, Mustufa does have "the look" don't you think?

Be sure to sign up on the actor's Facebook to see what this certain surprise.

DCMF - Since "the look" isn't everything, I'll have to wait to see the actor's acting ability in Tyler Perry's latest "Madea" adaption, inwhich Isaiah portrays the lead. But with Marvel mainly focusing on live-action films for Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor, I'm glad someone is giving the Power Man some juice in the media. Though R&B artist Tyrese Gibson, has been connected to the role ever since Marvel announced that a film would actually be made, do you think Isaiah Mustafa would be a better choice?

That 2nd pic looks like he's on the set of Twilight. I just don't see him for the role of Luke Cage. Like Poni said, the character needs to have street toughness.

it NEEDS to be him. he deserves it. he's what? mid 30's? 40's? and just now getting his break!?

Marvel needs to come up with more black superheroes. Currently they have three: an African king, a street thug, and a side kick to a rich white guy. Seriously Marvel? And on that note where are the Latino super heroes? How come all the Asian superheroes are either scientists or ninjas? Seriously Marvel?

He'd make a great Luke Cage IMO. Not only is he extremely passionate about the character, but he also has both the right look and build for him. The only problem is, is that he might be a little too lean for such a huge and intimidating character...maybe he'd be better suited to someone like Black Panther!?

Man, when are people going to learn that no actor worth a role is ever going to look like the character in the comic?! which is a 100% proportionally incorrect DRAWING. This guy is in top shape. no need to bulk up at all. he's in as good of shape as human can be in without, what you guys want, being all roided up. This guy was doing an interview with Leno and talked about his diet and his exercise regiment. it's intense. he's a fitness model most recently featured in the P90x commercials. one of the most popular workout machines. if this guy can't play luke cage then no one can. Finally, someone comes along who has worked for years to be in top condition, can act, looks the part to a T and still people are complaining....

i guess some things will never change.

Tea@ of course, and that's all mine is. i just think we're going to have give up a little bit of size when these movie are made. and im surprised people still throw out the argument "He's too small". i mean look at the #1 movie this weekend - Sly Stalone, Statham, Li - all under 6 ft and it was a balls to the wall (literally) action movie.

Well said! :) The only way you'd find anyone near the size of how Cage is drawn in the comic books would be to cast a wrestler or professional bodybuilder. Both of which are awful ideas.

Ditto to NoPurposeNaji.

I love this guy's enthusiasm, but he's just to small LOOKING and doesn't look mean enough. Also, this old spice persona is to smooth. Not "street" enough for Cage (I says as a Midwestern white guy). Maybe he has the acting chops to pull it off though. Insufficient information.

Oh, and Terry Crews totally has the body of Luke Cage, so what's this "nobody looks like the character" stuff?

i don't know if marvel would make a solo luke cage movie.

i think they should do a luke cage & iron fist movie.

same with ant-man,it should be ant-man & the wasp.

anyway terry crewes or rampage jackson for luke cage.

f*ck knows who to cast for iron fist.

@OdinsBeard

u named actors who are built compare to this guy.

@JoshW

how wrestler or professional bodybuilder is a bad idea. you forget Arnold Schwarzenegger was a bodybuilder and Sylvester Stallone does workout in the gym.

He would be just bad-ass enough to pull off the part.

jazzman@ built by roids... at least in sly's case.

statham and li look just like this guy. and im sure all three (including Mustafa) would hit the gym a little bit harder when they land a role.

Yeah, I honestly don't think anyone will take an action movie starring the old spice guy seriously.

I say that they bring in an unknown and surround him with better known actors. Like they did with Thor.

OdinsBeard - 8/16/2010, 9:39 AM
i will have to say that this shameless self promotion is a LITTLE pathetic. i mean in today's world who knows what the best way to go is, and these pics are cool - but c'mon gotta keep it a little professional.

HAAAAAHH! Please. That guy isn't EVEN Luke Cage material.

when that commercial comes on TV and he goes "Does your boyfriend look like me?" My girlfriend laughs at him and says "better"

Anyway Terry Crews FTW!!
Crews is MY pick to play cage all the way. Hell he looks just like him.
