LUKE CAGE Season 2 Will Feature Appearances From Ghostface Killah, Faith Evans, Rakim, And More

Season 1 of Marvel's Luke Cage enlisted a talented group of artists, and now the second season looks set to match the previous season's impressive lineup as they recruit a wide variety of musical guests...

Along with the villain Cottonmouth (Mahershala Ali), the first season of Marvel and Netflix’s Luke Cage received a lot of attention and praise for its various musical guests. Among the notable appearances in Season 1 were the likes of Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings and Method Man, who also had a minor role in the show.

With the series' musical history in mind, some fans began to wonder whether we’d see some more talented artists make an appearance in season 2, and it looks like they wont be disappointed.

According to Billboard, the full list of musical guests includes Ghostface Killah, Rakim, Joi & D-Nice, Gary Clark Jr., Esperanza Spalding, Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram, Stephen Marley, Jadakiss, and KRS-One. Also, after making an appearance in the previous season, Faith Evans will be returning for another turn in the Marvel Universe.

Like the past season, we can expect to see most of these artists perform existing tracks at Mariah Dillard’s (Alfre Woodard) Harlem's Paradise. However, following in Method Man’s footsteps, one of 'em will perform a song created for Marvel’s bulletproof hero.

“Not only do we have him on Luke Cage, we have him performing a song about Luke Cage," Coker said, revealing Rakim will perform an original song for the show. “It's manna from heaven."

In all, it looks as if Season 2 of Luke Cage has a good chance at matching the musical talent featured in the first season.

What do you folks make of this news? Is there any artist in particular that you’re looking forward to?

@MrCamw1 - You’re not the only one. I feel like he’ll pop-up sometime this season, but won’t have a major role until the next season.

@BlindWedjat - he's been quiet. I've seen him only on features for other artists the last few years.

I just hope it’s [season 1] first half good, rather than second half.

I'm afraid this will be more nauseatingly boring than the first season of Iron Perm. Still hoping for the best...bit I'm almost out of optimism.

Rakim, KRS and Ghost? This is going to be a dope season. Sounds like they are making an effort to improve over last season and I loved last season, ending and all.

As dope as the music in Season 1 was overall, I was actually pretty disappointed with the lack of actual hip hop played during the episodes. I'm all for Jazz and soul, but Cage needs to have that boom bap sound throughout for maximum effect. Glad they're really going all out for Season 2

Luke Cage S01 was better than Iron Fist S01. After a re-watch, Diamondback wasn't terrible.

People don’t like Diamondback, but this was still cool:
