While promoting the upcoming home video release of Halo: Nightfall, actor Mike Colter shared a few details on his upcoming turn as the Marvel street-level hero Luke Cage in Netflix's Jessica Jones.  According to Colter, Cage has super strength and bulletproof skin just like he does in the pages of Marvel Comics but in Jessica Jones, Cage operates in secrecy.  "Marvel actually gives you a special training class in how not to say too much in interviews [laughs]. We’re in the middle of shooting AKA Jessica Jones and Luke Cage is a very interesting character who just happens to have super strength and unbreakable skin. He’s a neighborhood hero, very much linked to New York and Jessica Jones. It’s all part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but Luke Cage is a darker, grittier, more tangible character than Iron Man or Thor. He likes to keep things close to his chest, operate on the hush-hush. He has these abilities but he’s not sure how and when to use them. He’s a very nuanced character."

Colter will be seen as Luke Cage in Netflix's 13-episode Marvel-Netflix miniseries, Jessica Jones, which stars Krysten Ritter as the titular character Filming is currently underway and the series is expected to stream in late-2015/early-2016.

Other than that, I can't wait to see the chemistry between Colter and Ritter; hopefully it's like what I saw in New Avengers.

I think he'll be cool in the show, but I don't love him for Luke Cage. One problem for me is he has a "fake" deep voice. Meaning it almost seems like he tries to make his voice deep. you'll see when he gets excited in a role, his voice gets very high.

Too bad the action scenes are gonna be AOS tier due to the low-budget.

Sounds good to me. He's powered and doing some neighborhood stuff, but not quite putting up Heroes for Hire billboards yet.

Just tired of waiting at this point.

Still don't understand why the Luke Cage series didn't come first. Will it not be about his origin? Or will it for some reason partially or wholly take place before AKA Jessica Jones?

Starting to look forward to this. Don't know too much about Jessica Jones, but Marvel hasn't made any shit yet.

@Enphlieuwince

It's a TV show, their budget are never that big.
Even big shows have to be super careful with how they use it.

@EzioKenway1225

"hey I'll take AOS tier action scenes"

Maybe he escaped seagate prison in the all hail the king one shot?
For people saying these shows are "cheap" each of these shows cost 50million dollars each which isnt too far off of Game of thrones budget.
@Eziokenway1225
Yes on #DanStevensforIronFist . BTW have you noticed that all the shows except jessica jones come from comics where the death of their fathers were defining and important moments in these heroes lives and ideoleges?
#OneMonth to go!

@EzioKenway1225 Wasn't the show runner hired long after the announced sequence of shows? And how would you include Luke Cage in the script of you plan on having him have his own series beforehand but have no idea how it ends? But regardless what's done is done but my question remains. Do you think the Luke Cage series will cover his origin which is a very interesting story and if so does that mean it will be a complete prequel of sorts? Or will his origin be covered in AKA Jessica Jones?

I just find it odd if Marvel takes their time so very slowly developing Daredevil but then rush Luke Cage along in a different series than his own.

4 and half weeks!
