Rampage Jackson Has Met With Marvel, (Probably) About Playing Luke Cage

During a Podcast interview, The A-Team star reveals that he had a meeting with Marvel, and that he would love to play Luke Cage. We put two and two together! Click for the details..

The Luke Cage stuff comes in about 21.50..

If you don't feel like watching, basically when he is asked about playing Luke Cage he responds with ..

"It's funny you should say that, I had a meeting with Marvel.."

He then stops himself and wonders aloud if he should have said that! He continues with..

"I would love to play Luke Cage, I think I would make a great Luke Cage"

So although he doesn't come right out and say it, I don't think it's really jumping to any conclusions to assume that he was meeting about playing Luke Cage. Pretty spot on casting I'm sure you will agree. Although I wasn't a big fan of The A-Team, I thought Jackson did a pretty good job as BA. Of course a meeting doesn't mean anything, but it does confirm that Marvel are looking at people at least. What would you think of Jackson in the role?

Thanks to Marvel Movies for the heads up.

This proves my theory that every jacked black actor is being considered for Luke Cage.

First off - Who cares about Luke Cage

Second off - Do the people who do want Luke Cage to be dragged down by a shitty actor?

Also is marvel planning on putting him in avengers or something? If they are, its way to early for that. The new avengers should be at least avengers 3 or 4 if it becomes a successful franchise. Also, they should wait to get spider-man's movie rights back from sony if they do new avengers. Also wolverine, but now with first class, that won't happen for a loooooong time. Spidey has a chance to be with marvel again. Think about it, if amazing spider man fails, Sony might actually get tired of it. That would be 2 bad spidey movies in a row. Marvel might have a chance. Well hopefully anyway.

No no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no.

He's got the look and that's it. They should just do a Heroes for Hire TV show with Cage and Iron Fist. Along with Daredevil it's the most logical Marvel property to adapt to the small screen. Low tech, grounded in reality, urban and plenty of possibilities in both real world and supernatural villains.

I don't even think he really looks like him. He's the right complection, muscular, and has facial hair, but he doesn't have the right head shape and facially he just doesn't feel like LC to me.

Marvel probably screen tested him and weren't wowed. Once they find an actor they like, I'm sure we'll hear some kind of announcement then.

I like Rampage, but he's a bad actor.

Luke Cage needs to either be an unknown, or Michael Jai White. Sure, he's in his 40s now, but Cage in the comics is clearly over 30.

Also, Ezekiel Jackson from WWE would make an awesome Luke Cage.

Let The Rock be Luke Cage. Sure he doesn't look exactly like him, but he's built and a serviceable enough actor that can sell tickets and kick some ass.

I was gonna say me likey but admittedly did not see A-Team. These posts do not rate him well. But Luke Cage is cool F everybody. Must be a ghetto actor. I can see why they looked at Rampage.

brian j white is a former football player, but not big enough for luke cage imo, luke cage should be the size of The Rock in Fast Five. But finding an actor with the basic frame to put on that kind of size is difficult if you want him to be good

I like Rampage, but I don't think he could carry a character like this.

If they intend to have Luke Cage just stand there, look badass and not say anything, then perfect casting! Otherwise, no.

I'm a fan of Rampage as a fighter, and he's pretty funny in real life, but he said ON CAMERA, that movies are for pussies (after filming A-Team and they were on the topic of that movie, which is why he said that). I thought it was kind of disrespectful to those who gave him an opportunity to play such an iconic role without any acting background or skill. He should be honored, not call people pussies (which I guess he is calling himself a pussy cause he's not very intelligent dissing himself accidentally lol). If I were a casting producer or director and heard that, I'd be anti-Rampage lol. I don't know if he can even get another role after that bold quote he made.

SCOURGE - 7/12/2011, 6:12 PM
This is going to be unpopular, but I'm going to say it anyway: Luke Cage should be introduced on A.K.A Jessica Jones when the show comes out and not before. I don't think Luke Cage can support a feature length film on his own without prior exposure on television.
NeoBaggins
NeoBaggins - 7/12/2011, 6:14 PM
The reason why I thought this guy would make a good Cage is because his acting is at the right level of what the production will probably be. And far as "not" looking like Cage, he'll embody the right attitude and character, so exact looks is a small compromise.

Personally, I don't think the character alone is too interesting, but I like the idea of MARVEL digging into the hero roster outside of the usual suspects. But you can bet if there's a Luke Cage movie, it will be a low budget side shot movie. Think Ghost Rider or a Punisher level production and reception.

WellDrawn
WellDrawn - 7/12/2011, 6:23 PM
His acting may not win any awards, but A Team proved 1 thing about him - he plays REALLY well off other actors and is a lot better in ensembles. Throw in a great actor to play Iron Fist and we could be looking at a FANTASTIC Heroes For Hire movie.
