Terry Crews Doesn't Have Much Interest In Playing LUKE CAGE

The Expendables actor has been a firm fan-favorite for the role of "Power Man" for quite some time now, but while chatting to Blackfilm.com about his first animated flick, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2, Crews says that he's "trying to take myself outta that running"..

It's rare that an actor will admit to having no interest in playing a superhero or any character in a potentially huge blockbuster these days..just in case the powers that be might be paying attention. But that's exactly what Terry Crews did in an interview with Blackfilm.com. When asked about the persistent fan-chatter for him to play Luke Cage (or any superhero), Crews reveals that he'd much rather focus his attention on less obvious roles, and that he'd rather play a new character, and not someone already established in the comic books.

"Well, first of all, I’m trying to take myself outta that running. Because everybody’s like, ‘I want to play this superhero character, that superhero character’. I’d rather make up my own. Make a brand new one, you know...

..I think everybody’s is forcing this ‘Power Man’, Luke Cage thing. Man, it’s obvious, Marvel, for some reason, is not getting down with it. He’s being ignored."

Thoughts? Are you disappointed that Crews isn't pushed, or do you think there's a better actor out there for the role anyway? For the full interview click on the link below.

I always liked him for Cage, but it's cool if they go another direction. Something tells me though that if Marvel called and asked, he'd accept.

The Rock is still my first choice for Cage; but Crews would probably be the second. Sign Ryan Gosling for Iron Fist and let's make a Heroes For Hire flick!

Terry would be a great match looks wise. I am not sure acting wise but he could pull it off. I mean its a Superhero film not Shakespear.

The Rock? Absolutely not. If he played Cage he just doesnt have the right look for Cage.

I prefer they do Heroes for Hire than a cage or Iron Fist solo film. Heroes for Hire will give it just enough of a twist to keep it different from the crowd. Maybe solo films after

And there we go, the Terry Crews bashing begins!
Look assholes, i'm not a fan of the Terry casting anyway. Not that big of a Luke Cage fan, and i think that casting Terry would be too obvious, BUT you CAN NOT start bashing him just because he's disinterested! Ya'll sound like a bunch of "Grapes are sour" babies when an actor expresses any negative sentiment towards one of your coveted movie roles. I remember the shit that hit the fan when Natalie Portman voiced concern that her friend Pattie didn't get the directing gig to Thor 2 or when Hugo Weaving said that his role as Red Skull was corny.

Fanboys. You disgust me!

Agreed to the fullest man, so many African-American characters get the rear end in films these days. And I'm not saying that it's due to racism but is clearly a lack of diversity. Most of these characters were created Caucasian so that's cool with me, however to give War Machine a "comic book story" towards the events of the Avengers was [frick]ing lame as hell! The dude didn't even get a small cameo or even his name mentioned.

The whole Black Panther gig is BS too! They've had a script for how long now? It better be apart of Phase 3 and they better not give him a rushed comedy [frick]tard action flick! putting all that dag on money into that lame Shield show...lol

Get on your sh** marvel!

Terry Crews has a point. Marvel simply doesnt want to make a Luke Cage movie. If anything, Marvel will make a Heros for Hire movie and reduce Luke Cage to Iron Fists trustworthy sidekick. Besides, every actor that anyone has gave their blessing to be Luke Cage is either in their late 30's or early 40's. Its easy to assume that if Marvel ever makes this movie, those actors will likely be in their 50's and too old to do sequels.

Crews is a servicable actor. I don't why people feel the need to take potshots at the guy because he's not interested in playing Luke Cage. He has the look, but I've never seen Crews play any type of serious role. He's more comedic, even in action roles. Luke Cage needs to be played by someone who can do drama. And Crews is also too old for the role.

But I do agree with Crews when he says that Marvel is ignoring him. Marvel is ignoring all of it's main black heroes at the moment. But that's common for Hollywood, so they aren't out their element.

Terry Crews is awesome. And hes hillarious when he tries to be funny (those Old Spice commericals are GOLD).

But he does seem to old to play Luke Cage. I would prefer someone younger for the role anyway.

A lot of yall are acting as if he doesn't act like Luke Cage in most of the movies he's in.

And no young black actor out there has the build for Cage like Terry does. (I wonder why there is no popular built young black actors out there????)

There are unknown actors out there that can play Luke Cage.
Great examples are Henry Cavill,Chris Hemsworth,Tom Hiddleson..each relative unknowns but were perfect casting in their superhero/villain roles.
