DAREDEVIL Star Charlie Cox Responds To SHE-HULK Criticisms; "If [It's] Not Your Thing, Then Don't Watch It"

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has come under fire from some fans for its lighter tone, and star Charlie Cox has now responded to those and complaints about Daredevil's comedic portrayal. Read on for details!

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law was vastly different to any other Marvel Studios movie or TV show, with a comedic tone that wasn't what a lot of fans anticipated. That had an impact on the heroes and villains who appeared in the series, of course, with Abomination, Wong, and Daredevil all portrayed in a slightly different light than what we've come to expect.

The Man Without Fear romanced Jennifer Walters and ended up doing the "walk of shame" - in costume - after spending the night with his fellow lawyer. This was met with a surprising amount of backlash, but what did Charlie Cox think?

"There's stuff like the walk of shame," the actor acknowledged in an interview with Digital Spy, "where you're like, 'I don't know. This could go two ways. This could be something that the fans really enjoy, and it could be something that feels like it goes against the nature of what they love about the character and the tone of the piece.'"

"The good thing about doing it on something like She-Hulk is, it's not Daredevil's show," Cox continued. "It was my job as the actor to come onto another person's show and embrace the tone, whilst staying as true to the character as I possibly could."

He'd go on to note that while his role in this series "tonally felt very different from everything I've done as that character," he was excited to explore a new side of Daredevil. "There are a series of Daredevil comics where the tone is much lighter, and he is much more kind of silly and goofy than perhaps we've done much of previously with this character."

As for the backlash he and the series have received from fans, including the #NotMyDaredevil hashtag, Cox added, "You can't please all the people all the time. If She-Hulk’s not your thing, then don’t watch it. Watch something else."

Cox will return as the Man Without Fear in 2024's Daredevil: Born Again, and that series is expected to be quite a bit darker. In fact, we expect it to boast a TV-MA rating, making it the most adult MCU TV series to date on Disney+. With that in mind, we're sure fans disappointed with She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's take on 'ol Hornhead will feel a lot happier a couple of years from now.

Beyond that, Daredevil is expected to return in Spider-Man 4, though that hasn't been confirmed yet.

People need to realise you catch Marvel characters doing all kinds of funny shit outside of their own series like Matt doing the walk of shame all the time. Don’t know why it caused such a fuss.

@PlusUltra - Exactly. Thor was rooming with a guy named Daryl in Australia while Civil War was going on.

And that was also the beginning of the Taika character massacre...

@FilmGuy7878 - what Taika did with Ragnarok was great, and the way the Russo Bros rolled with it in Infinity War was even better. It was Endgame where things started getting a little dicey and then Love & Thunder where it all went completely off the rails.

@AC1 - A massacre that started with a redemption but ended with a slaughterhouse.

But I agree, Ragnarok and Infinity War were Thor's best films.

@PlusUltra - Why did he have to do the walk of shame? he just f*cked She-Hulk, most men if not all would not be ashamed.

1) You would know ONLY after you watch how bad it really is...

2) Continues Viewership drops with each episode would tell them exactly that, many didn't like it and stopped watching it.
