SHE-HULK: ATTORNEY AT LAW "Honest Trailer" Takes Aim At Men, Matt Murdock, And Courtroom Scenes

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law drew criticism from some fans, though reviews were incredibly positive. Now, the Honest Trailers team is taking a closer look at the MCU series, making some astute observations.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law drew the ire of some fans for what was deemed inadequate VFX and, bizarrely, the fact that it told this story from a female point of view. This Honest Trailer for the Disney+ TV series doesn't get too deep, but does make it clear men were the enemy in the show.

As well as exploring this, the video points out that Matt Murdock did a really bad job of hiding his secret identity as Daredevil during his appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's penultimate episode.

The CGI doesn't get much of a mention, but the absurdity that a beautiful, successful woman like Jennifer Walters would struggle to find a date does. Looking back, that was a little ridiculous because as this trailer points out, who would turn Tatiana Maslany down?

Finally, those fourth-wall breaks and K.E.V.I.N. are brought up, albeit with a unique Honest Trailers spin.

"A verdict has been reached on She-Hulk, and it’s a mighty Marvel masterpiece!" we exclaimed in our review of the first four episodes. "Tatiana Maslany is sensational as the lawyer-turned-superhero, while the show’s quirky, offbeat tone perfectly encapsulates the weirder side of the MCU in a way you’ve never seen before."

Marvel Studios hasn't announced a second season for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, though the current expectation is that Jen will return in an upcoming movie. We've heard rumblings that might be Captain America: New World Order, but nothing has been confirmed. A World War Hulks feature does seem likely, however.

Check out this new Honest Trailer for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law below!

Anything that is happy to poke fun at the behemoth that is the MCU I'm fine with.

Just for clarity, I am referring to the show...not the Honest Trailers video.

@Orphix - But does it really poke fun at it, or is it a corporate constructed to seem like it's doing it?
Orphix
Orphix - 10/20/2022, 7:05 AM
@dagenspear - Does it matter? You can watch and interpret how you want - like you can with any media. Once something is made and out in the open it belongs to the audience in terms of how it is perceived.

Admittedly its pretty light-hearted but the fact they acknowledge these things is impressive.

@Orphix - How the audience may perceive it doesn't change what the intention of those involved was.
dagenspear

How does it take on men?

@dagenspear - They're more like shots across the bow -- would really only hurt those to whom it pertains.

@EskimoJ - But I think some may see it as blanket statements on those who criticize it in general.

"It appears there are many guys out there who don't appreciate getting called out for their behaviour"

Or some people may not like being accused of needless claims with, maybe, strawman type arguments, using weakly written and pointless villains.

@dagenspear - Nah, pretty sure a lot of dudes felt seen by the show in a way they didn't like.

@Kyos - you mean the show that was intentionally written to create outrage then patted itself on the back for predicting the outrage it created.

Shame they couldn't put all that energy into writing something good, it would've done a much better job of silencing critics instead of just putting money in their pockets.

@Kyos - Who decides that?

Not the best Honest Trailer video and was weirdly going for a more subtle, understated, dig at the show, a lot of it is spot on and I did find the 4th wall break much funnier than anything in She-Hulk though.

Nice they spot that after Matt talks about the importance of a secret identity in court then goes out of his way to give his own away lol

That final line though...

"No, the big showdown's just for the movies. The shows all end in a void outside space and time, where the thing gets explained to you by a God."

I had not thought about the finale like that. Pretty accurate surprisingly

“ It appears there are many guys out there who don't appreciate getting called out for their behaviour, leading to She-Hulk being vilified in the same way as Brie Larson's Captain Marvel (because that Oscar-winner is a feminist).”

So Wilding quotes his gushing review of She-Hulk which is one way to inject your opinion in an article labeled “news”, but then he HAS to inject even more opinion.

@natebest I thought you guys were putting a clamp on this, hence the News and Opinion labels?

@Superheromoviefan - apparently reviewers and creators going after this show are getting bombed themselves Lon Twitter lol! I guess turn around is fair play.

Dan Murrel disliked the show and in his review acted like he was walking on broken glass and apologized THREE times for his opinion.

The enemy is men in most movies.

Show was ok.. underwhelming since I expected too much maybe.
Also, some tired talking points of men.. men.. men... cry like Elizabeth Banks then when it tanks.. Unimaginative and plain talentless when it comes to those tropes.

Finally, some things really were disgusting - like the twerking crap..

I really dont get a world where men have to agree to tear down men to support woman. This show was terrible regardless of whatever message they were sending. It was full on insert by the writer and it wasnt funny. You can still have a message (even if the audience disagrees with it) and have it be a well written show. This is what they hollywood people dont get.

They turned Jen into a self centered, first world problems girl. She drinks and sleeps around with no consequence. Let me guess, season 2 will be about her body, her rights as she fights to abort the baby from the 4 guys she slept with on the show when she was hammered.
