SHE-HULK: Original Small Screen Hulk Lou Ferrigno Has Some Words Of Advice For The Disney+ Series

The Incredible Hulk star Lou Ferrigno has been critical of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Hulk in the past, and the actor has now shared some words of advice for the She-Hulk series coming to Disney+...

Lou Ferrigno played the Jade Giant in The Incredible Hulk TV series that ran from 1978 to 1982, and made a cameo appearance in the 2008 movie of the same name (officially making the actor part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe). He initially lent his voice to the big screen version of The Hulk until Mark Ruffalo took over that side of things as technology continued to improve.

During a recent interview with TooFab, Ferrigno shared his thoughts on The Hulk's small screen return.

"I like Ed Norton because it was very close to Bill Bixby," he started. "You know the series could never be duplicated because Bill was fantastic, Today there is so much emphasis on CGI. So it has to come back to good stories -- that's what people want. That's why three decades of people -- I still meet fans of [the TV series] 'The Hulk' and they bring it up how much it affected their lives."

Asked for his opinion on Tatiana Maslany taking on the lead role in She-Hulk, he added: "I think it's a good idea, but I think we have to get retrained from seeing too much special effects because the more authentic, organic the character can be, the more believable," Ferrigno added. "So we have to see what happens because it may work for 'Star Wars' -- it may work for different films, but you know, when you have too much CGI, it gets confusing."

For a series like She-Hulk, there's definitely going to be some CGI, but it's easy enough to see where the actor is coming from here, especially as he brought the Green Goliath to life practically.

Things have changed a lot since then, though, and we're definitely not expecting a female bodybuilder to replace Maslany whenever she transforms into her far more powerful alter-ego.

@RageDriver2401 - What he's saying, is an old-fashioned notion...

@MosquitoFarmer - I agree with Lou though. After recasting Hulk in the MCU, he's been a forgettable character. Since Thor Ragnarok he's been a joke, rather than being the "misunderstood" monster like the classic universal monsters his character was inspired by. Ed Norton and Bill Pixby (in my opinion) had better characterization for Bruce/David Banner and Hulk. Hulk and the live action TV show was huge during its time until Universal [frick]ed it up with Ang Lee's mess.

@RageDriver2401 - ". So it has to come back to good stories -- that's what people want." Guess I watched the wrong Hulk live-action tv series.

@TheMapleSyrup - i am hoping they do the creation of she hulk with scaling like Eitri in Endgame (Hagrid in Harry Potter, Hobbits, etc in Lord of the Rings)... not so much with CGI... he is right, practical usually comes off better in so many ways.
