SHE-HULK Rumored To Include DEADPOOL-Style Fourth Wall Breaks With Jennifer Walters

We know that She-Hulk will be a half-hour comedy/drama, but it seems the Disney+ series will head in an unexpected direction as a new report claims Jennifer Walters will be breaking the fourth wall...

The Direct is reporting that Marvel Studios' She-Hulk TV series will feature Jennifer Walters breaking the fourth wall and addressing the audience. There is precedent for this in the comic books, of course, and the site claims "Walters will acknowledge that she's a character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe."

That would certainly help set the stage for Deadpool to do the same when Ryan Reynolds' Merc with the Mouth enters the MCU, while some insight into those recent Megan Thee Stallion rumours has also been revealed.

"The super-powered Walters will also have multiple interactions with real-world people in her ten-episode series," the site notes, "paving the way for surprising celebrity cameos."

It's unclear whether She-Hulk's ability to break the fourth wall will be explained in any way, but this is certainly a departure from the norm for Marvel Studios. That's what Disney+ has really been about from the start, though, and as with Deadpool, it would probably be for the best not to address this head-on as that could get a little weird and confusing.

Production on the show is expected to begin later this year, so official details could follow soon.

Tatiana Maslany will play the title character in She-Hulk, while Mark Ruffalo is set to reprise the role of The Hulk. Tim Roth also returns as The Abomination, while Jameela Jamil was recently cast as Titania. Ginger Gonzaga and Renée Elise Goldsberry have also joined the series as undisclosed characters.

She-Hulk is expected to premiere on Disney+ in 2022.

Sound "very" interesting. I'm on board. It will also help pave the way for Deadpool a bit easier for those who haven't followed Deadpool (those too young to see his films).

Here for it. (Though Wanda broke plenty of her own walls, to be fair.)

@Spock0Clock - Tatiana is one of the most natural and versatile actors of her generation. I have a feeling she'll quickly become a fan favourite as She-Hulk.

Kinda surprised at this. I know she was pretty well known for it in the Byrne series, but that hasn’t really been part of her character for awhile now. Also I can’t see how having her and Deadpool would work.

People trying to save this by saying "the comic did it though" really need reread this part to understand how unbelievably forced and cringe this will get.

@BroskiTroski - Umm, have you ever seen anything Marvel Studios have done before? They tend to take the time to make sure they get things right. I think the same will apply to this show.

@bcom - First of all, I'm not the biggest fan of the MCU but I like to think that even most lovers of it can admit the MCU is capable of being average, mediocre, or even bad sometimes.

Second, the ending of WandaVision was straight-up terrible despite how damn good the first 5 episodes were. So no, they are not as flawless as you think. Even if they were that is not a good defense for anything that has a terrible concept since anyone is capable of screwing up.

@BroskiTroski - Amazing how y’all will cry for comic accuracy and then cry when you get it but not in a way that’s “cool” for you.

@BroskiTroski - Imagine having someone like Elon Musk just show up randomly in the MCU... Unthinkable.

@SerKurtWagner - I literally have no idea what you're talking about. I don't give a shit if it "comes from the comics". Comics are full of utter trash, whether it's adapted or not doesn't make it less garbage. Thanos is proof of this, where the MCU actually improved Thanos by taking away his stupid "wanting to win Death's love" nonsense.
