She-Hulk: Attorney at Law wrapped-up its first season this past Thursday with a divisive finale that took the fourth-wall breaks and meta humor to new levels.

The episode built to Jen Walters confronting the HulkKing (who turned out to be Todd Phelps) and his Intelligencia group, who were holding a meeting in Emil Blonsky's lodge. When Phelps ingests some of Jen's blood and transforms, Titania and the Incredible Hulk arrive on the scene, and the stage is set for an action-packed - if more than a little contrived - conclusion.

At this point, Jen decides that she doesn't want a predictable ending, and breaks the fourth wall by literally climbing through the Disney+ menu screen and making her way to the Marvel Studios writer-room to demand an audience with Kevin Feige... only to discover that the mastermind behind the MCU is actually an artificial intelligence known as Knowledge Enhanced Visual Interconnectivity Nexus (or, K.E.V.I.N.)

After asking for an ending more in-keeping with the tone of the show, Jen was given a happier send-off with a family get-together involving Matt Murdock, Smug Hulk (sorry Bruce) and his son, Skaar.

While speaking to EW, star Tatiana Maslany revealed that a "more serious" ending was actually filmed.

"[Head writer] Jessica [Gao] and I talked about the ending a lot, because tonally it could have gone in all kinds of different ways," she tells the site. "Jess said that there were like 20 versions of it. I never saw 18 of those versions, but I did see two: the one that we went with and then one that we shot prior."

Maslany doesn't share many details on the scrapped sequence, but Jen would have been in She-Hulk form for longer, so there's a chance it would have been more action-heavy.

"It was [more of] She-Hulk, so it was way too expensive, first off. And it had a different strategy to it. The thing that I love about this one is that we get back to Jen feeling like K.E.V.I.N.'s her collaborator and like an equal, and that her ideas deserve respect. Even sitting down on the ground and asking about the X-Men is like, 'We're buddies now,' you know what I mean? Something about that feels very Jen, and feels very funny."

Hmmm...I wonder what that sequence entailed? Either way....pretty happy with what we got. Sure there were some loose ends that were not properly tied up the way many thought or expected but I liked it.

I dug it. That ending was 100% like the She Hulk comics. Some things could have been executed a little better, but I still appreciated what they attempted to do. They didn't take the easy route.

The ending they used just felt rushed and too out of place. Like they literally threw random ideas into the finale because they didn’t know how to end their stories properly. Very disappointing…

It was only "divisive" in your and Josh's mind. Everyone on twitter is loving it.

@braunermegda - Everyone I know mostly hated this show, including the finale, but I guess they don't have a twitter account, idk.

@SethBullock - let's base 53 million tweets and compare them to your ten closest friends who watched it and didn't like it. Yeah, of course.

@braunermegda - Yeah, I'm sure there are 53 million people on twitter loving this show, lol.

And when I talk about "everyone I know" I include people in large message boards/forums, websites and youtube, not just my personal friends. 😆

My only gripe about the finale is they should have left Bruce out of it. Bringing Bruce back at the end with his son with no explanation just feels tacked on. Should have saved that whole plot point for the movie. Just leave Bruce in space for now.

@JonAwesome - someone else here mentioned she should have turned to the camera and said "Kevin!!!!" afterwards to solidify that joke. I don't think it was clear enough to the audience that's what happened.
