Marvel Studios Rumored To Be Developing MONICA RAMBEAU And TEN RINGS Spinoff TV Shows For Disney+

Following the news that Agatha Harkness is set to receive a spinoff series on Disney+, it's now being reported that there could be plans for the Ten Rings organisation and WandaVision's Monica Rambeau.

Earlier this week, the trades confirmed that Marvel Studios is developing a WandaVision spinoff that will put the spotlight on Agatha Harkness. Now, that's been followed by claims that more small screen spinoffs are in the works for supporting characters from various movies and TV shows.

For starters, it's said that we're getting a series that will focus on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' Ten Rings organisation. That movie's post-credits scene set the stage for Meng'er Zhang's Xialing to pick up where her father, Wenwu, left off, though we're not sure that group really needs an entire series devoted to them when they'd arguably make better antagonists for Shang-Chi 2.

A little more exciting is the claim that WandaVision star Teyonah Parris will return as Monica Rambeau in her own series. That makes perfect sense following The Marvels, especially if she embraces being a superhero in the Captain Marvel sequel (we're guessing she'll be going by the Spectrum moniker).

None of this is confirmed, and seeing as the information comes our way from Daniel Richtman, it's best taken with a pinch of salt. Regardless, we're not sure how to feel about the prospect of these supporting characters all getting their own shows, especially with so many bigger name heroes and villains who would benefit from their stories being expanded on in some way.

Check out our interview with Shang-Chi star Florian Munteanu (Razor Fist) below:

they really need to be more careful cuz this will lead to oversaturation. its not gonna feel special or like an event anymore. and ffs, enough with these projects for side characters. leave that to sony with their madame web and aunt ma projects that nobody wants.

@rebellion - This is a massive universe with different styles. Only event films are Avengers, X-Men now, Secret Wars, etc. Being able to have a sandbox like this, and having spin offs like actual comics to the big and small screen is awesome.

CBMs are here to stay and if the quality stays like it is, there should be no issue.

@rebellion - The oversaturation is already here.

Next year we'll get four movies and probably even 4 MCU tv shows.

Plus 4 Dc movies and also a bunch of tv shows.

Sounds good, but when they all have a crap CGI third act, it will be pretty meh.

Eternals might be a pleasant surprise tho.

I feel like The Ten Rings would be a very interesting one as it can explore the underground aspect of the MCU. It can definitely set up future movie threats like The Hand, Neo-Hydra, Genosha, The Savage Land, and so on. I like the idea of it setting up The Hand & Iron Fist too. With the hand being the big crossover threat for the new Defenders Shang Chi, Iron Fist, Daredevil, Elektra, Xialing, and Luke Cage to fight.

So we moved from ''every character is gonna appear in Multiverse of Madness'' to ''every character is gonna get a spin-off''? Okay sure

So, if they make about 8 Disney+ show per year, at six weeks per show, we would have no gaps (a show every week). Plus four movies a year. I'll watch them at least once.
Drace24
Drace24 - 10/9/2021, 7:53 AM
@LSHF - Pretty sure that's where Disney+ wants to go. Having atleast one big Marvel or Star Wars show running every week.

@Drace24 - I'm happy the MCU has gotten this far...but then part of me feels like there is a chance that fans could get burned out.

I guess at this point we can just pick and choose what we want to watch, we don't have to see everything anymore to get the big picture.

Drace24 - 10/10/2021, 3:33 AM
@Turtlestrong - The prophecy that people will soon get burned out by superhero movies is older than the MCU itself. Still waiting for any sign that that would ever actually happen.

If they wanna get cute with spinoffs, why not make a Daily Bugle sitcom starring JK? I guess they'd have ask for Sony's permission tho

So much YES for the Monica Rambeau show! Although I hope they frame it as more of a S.W.O.R.D. show in the same way it appeared in WandaVision. This super cool high tech agency that responds to paranormal events happening on Earth. But totally with Monica as the lead and Jimmy Woo and Darcy in the supporting cast. They were a big part of what made WandaVision great.

As excited as I am at the prospect of a Monica Rambeau/SWORD show, I will temper that excitement and wait for either a leak from one of the trades or an official announcement from MARVEL themselves.

@FishyZombie - She was awesome in WandaVision.
FishyZombie
FishyZombie - 10/9/2021, 7:59 AM
@Drace24 - the actress was fine but I didn't buy her motivation at all. She was so defensive of Wanda, but if never made sense why. It was like she prioritized helping her rather than helping her victims.
Drace24
Drace24 - 10/9/2021, 8:07 AM
@FishyZombie - No, she wanted to help the victims AND Wanda. She understood Wanda's feelings because she dealt with grief as well and was literally experiencing hers while under her influence. She knew that Wanda didn't act out of maliciousness but was simply hurting. For her, helping Wanda was the solution to helping the people of Westview. And she was right.
FishyZombie
FishyZombie - 10/9/2021, 8:21 AM
@Drace24 - I just didn't buy her character at all. We the viewer were of course going to sympathize with Wanda. But the SWORD people didn't know her. For all they knew she could have been acting maliciously. They were in a hostage situation and all Monica wanted to do was defend the terrorist. Everything with SWORD was horribly written, the evil director guy especially. Anyway you say she was right but its not like she accomplished anything since it was Agatha who knocked sense into Wanda.
Drace24
Drace24 - 10/9/2021, 9:02 AM
@FishyZombie - That's just not true. I just explained that Monica sympathized with Wanda because she had an actual view into Wanda's emotions when she was under her hex. And she noticed that Wanda's grief was very similar to her own.
It's not true at all that "all" Monica cared about was Wanda. She literally said: "If Wanda is the reason for what's happening to the people of Westview, then she has to be our solution." And that's exactly it. Monica had the empathy to know that Wanda can be helped and that that would be right way to save everyone.

And no, Agatha very clearly did not "knock sense into Wanda". She literally offered Wanda the chance to stay in her little world in exchange for her power. Wanda didn't take that offer, because Monica was there for her, shared her experiences with her and encouraged her to face her truth.

Maybe you should watch the show again?
Typhoon20
Typhoon20 - 10/9/2021, 9:32 AM
@Drace24 - Telling someone "you should watch the show again" is not only insulting but also speaks how stubborn one can be that you're not even entertaining the possibility of being wrong. I agree with FishyZombie here. Guess I need to watch the show again since my small little brain couldn't comprehend the many subtle layered masterpiece that was WV.
OmegaDaGrodd
OmegaDaGrodd - 10/9/2021, 9:44 AM
@Typhoon20 -

Telling someone to watch a show again when that person clearly didn't pick up on fairly obvious character motivations isn't insulting at all, that's just giving pretty obvious and logical recommendations when in discussion with someone who's missing the obvious.

WandaVision is a show about processing grief, Monica's entire flashback episode starts with her dealing with overwhelming loss, and the show is pretty clear that Monica's loss is largely what's driving her empathy towards Wanda.

If someone missed that and can't pick up on it when it's explained to them, I think we'd all agree rewatching the show is the best way to remedy that
Drace24
Drace24 - 10/9/2021, 10:35 AM
@Typhoon20 - Well, I'm sorry, I guess, but what do you want me to say? All of the things Fishy didn't "buy" about Monica have been clearly explained in the show. You can say you didn't like it or that you would have preferred it a different way, but just pulling a CinemaSins and point at a thing happening in the show and saying "tHaT dOeSn'T mAkE sEnSe!" is just bad and lazy criticism. Why would that make me entertain the possibility that I am the one who's wrong?

It's all in the show. I can even point to the exact moments where it was made clear and I explained it twice. When I understand it, that means it CAN be understood. I'm not saying you are stupid or whatever, and I don't think that understanding WandaVision is a particularly difficult feat. So, if you didn't... maybe you should give it another try.
FishyZombie
FishyZombie - 10/9/2021, 10:47 AM
@OmegaDaGrodd - i know what they were going for, again for reasons stated before, i just didn't buy it. Also i didn't feel insulted at alk by Drace, but i feel pretty insulted by you. I didn't miss anything obvious.
FishyZombie
FishyZombie - 10/9/2021, 10:54 AM
@Drace24 - I'm giving my opinion, like it or not I didn't miss anything or fail to understand anything. the show failed at giving believable characterization when it comes to the SWORD characters. I'm hardly the only one who thought that. Its a common criticism of the show. And for good reason, those characters sucked. They made so many forced decisions with those characters so that there could be a fight in the end.
Drace24
Drace24 - 10/9/2021, 11:14 AM
@FishyZombie - No. "I didn't like it" would be an opinion. That's not what you are saying. You said that her character motivation doesn't make sense, which is a statement of fact. Which in this case is demonstrably incorrect, because everything you'd need to understand it is in the show, as I have explained twice. You also said that Agatha "knocked sense" into Wanda and that Monica didn't care about the people of Westview, both of which being factually inaccurate.

I believe you that you don't like the show or the characters. That's not what I'm talking about though. I'm simply pointing out that a big reason for that seems to be that you missed or misunderstood a lot of important information. And that this happened to other people as well isn't really proof of anything, given how many people very much did understand what was going on.
