WANDAVISION Director Matt Shakman Weighs In On Rumors Of A Secret Tenth Episode Of The Series

There have been rumblings for weeks about a secret tenth episode of WandaVision, and director Matt Shakman has weighed in on the possibility that we are getting an extra instalment to wrap the story up.

WandaVision's season finale streams on Disney+ tomorrow, but many fans are convinced that we're getting a secret tenth episode (or a double-bill finale). It's certainly nice to think that the show could get a feature-length ending, but that's not happening - though it will be the longest episode to date!

So, how do we know that there's not an extra episode of WandaVision heading our way this week or next? Well, director Matt Shakman confirmed as much during a recent chat with Screen Rant.

"No, I haven’t heard this theory. No," he said of the chances of another episode. He went on to joke that he wonders "who would've directed it," before pointed fans to Assembled, a new series which premieres on Disney+ on March 12th and takes us behind the scenes of WandaVision

"I know there was a Making Of episode the following week, so there’s some continuing WandaVision in the Disney+ world the following week. But we’re wrapping up our show," the filmmaker concluded.

We don't want it to end, but WandaVision wraps up tomorrow, likely bringing an end to Vision's story at the very least. The Scarlet Witch, meanwhile, will return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with her arc expected to play out on the big screen as her powers continue to develop. As for the other characters in the series, your guess is as good as ours, though Monica Rambeau is confirmed to be part of Captain Marvel 2 (and likely Secret Invasion).

What are you hoping to see from tomorrow's finale?

Makes sense

@TheMapleSyrup - I think what makes sense is Wandavision, being a TV show-based thing, and Wanda being able to warp reality, show me this. At about 10 minutes left in the "finale," with me screaming "christ, shows do this all the time, they don't have time to wrap this shit up!" show me a supremely meta scene that pulls back, spilling over into my Disney+ menu system with red sparkles of chaos magic creating a 10th episode that instantly becomes available.

@Tensorpants - I love this idea.

And I will be very disappointed if it doesn't go down like that.

@antiFanboyism -
Hey, look, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect Al Pacino to show up as Mephisto. I also fully expect that guy from The Office to still show up as Reed Richards. Cumberbatch is a given at this point so I will be disappointed if he doesn't show his face. I also thing its just common courtesy to wrap up all of the plot threads in this next episode AND get that 10th episode that we were promised to wrap things up further.

If I don't get everything I want...

Do we know the length of the finale yet?

@MartinTanley - for some reason I recall reading it's gonna be 50 minutes, but I could be wrong

@Origame - okay that tech sounds pretty cool. Also surprised to see its only now being (planned on being) used on a large scale.

@bkmeijer - it's the oil lobbyists. We could've had this tech years ago if not for them.

@Origame - sometimes I wonder why those are not the first in line to support tech like this. Oil is gonna run out one day, so why not make sure you also have control of the alternative?

@bkmeijer - honestly I don't know. Maybe they feel it won't run out in their lifetimes? Greed is a pretty stupid concept, but that's humanity for ya.

Although 9 episodes is an odd number to have for a show, I doubt there'll be a tenth one. If we're gonna count it, the making of is probably that tenth episode.

@bkmeijer - 9 actually kinda makes sense from a 3 act stand point. A 3 Act beginning (1-3), 3 Act Middle (4-6) and 3 Act end (7-9)
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 3/4/2021, 3:02 PM
@Knightrider - in that sense it does make sense yeah. Although I do kinda feel the third act didn't really came into gear until the eight episode (like it would in a 10 episode show)

I don't see how this can be wrapped up in one episode, unless it's at least 50 minutes, excluding credits.

This is what happens when we go more than a year without MCU movies. We'll suck your infinity stone for another thirty minutes, Shakman...
