WANDAVISION Exclusive: Emma Caulfield Notes Similarities Between Wanda Maximoff And Her BUFFY Character Anya

Nearly two decades prior to WandaVision, Emma Caulfield was one of the stars of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, playing the fan-favorite vengeance demon-turned-Scooby Gang member Anya Jenkins.

Anya was a frequently hilarious character that, like Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) herself, didn't quite fit in with her chosen group of friends, but, despite all of her baggage, still proved to be a valued, loyal, and extremely powerful member of the team.

While Caulfield didn't necessarily notice any similarities between the two characters during filming, she does note now that the characters do share some similar characteristics, but stresses that she believes pretty much every major heroic - or superheroic - character generally fits a similar archetype.  

"I think a lot of superheroes don’t fit in with their groups, I think that’s kind of the point. They’re not supposed to be your typical hero. I’m trying to think of a superhero that’s also the popular kid in the class, I can’t think of one off the top of my head. What’s the fun is seeing people who already have everything get more?"
