WANDAVISION Showrunner Jac Schaefer Comments On That Wonder Man Concept Art In Recent Featurette

A featurette for WandaVision included some blurry concept art in the background which quite clearly depicted Wonder Man, and showrunner Jac Schaeffer has now been asked to explain what that was all about!

Simon Williams/Wonder Man has quite the complicated history; he started off as an Avengers villain, but later joined the team. His villainous brother, Grim Reaper, later teamed up with Ultron and used Simon's brain patterns to create Vision (who, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is a combination of Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Ultron, and J.A.R.V.I.S.).

There's a lot Marvel Studios could do with the character and his complex history, and a recent WandaVision featurette with Wonder Man concept art in the background got everyone talking. There's no way its inclusion was an accident, and while it could be something as simple as a rejected Halloween costume, you'll find plenty of theories online about how the MCU could use Wonder Man!

In a recent interview with The Playlist, WandaVision showrunner Jac Schaeffer was asked about the artwork, and chose her words extremely carefully!

"I was standing in our writers’ room, which is covered floor-to-ceiling in all sorts of art and inspiration," she teased, "and it’s a pretty exciting room and...yeah..." That's not much to go on, but there's clearly something Schaeffer can't or won't elaborate on!

As for whether she has a future in the MCU beyond WandaVision and Black Widow, the writer added: "I would consider myself incredibly lucky to work on more Marvel projects, so we’ll have to see."

Well, she's definitely got the classic Marvel Studios secrecy perfected, wouldn't you agree?

Spoiler-ish question:
Were any of the "actors" identified in Westview known characters from the comics or easter eggs?

Just saw the recent leaks from what’s suppose to be episode 6.

Could the brain patterns of actor Simon Williams be used to “reanimate” Vision? It would be “comics accurate”.

The dialog in episode 2 regarding Vision was striking. For whatever reason there were a lot of references to ‘cowboys’ and cowboy retaliated things. Monica says Vision had a “hitch in his giddy-up” after being effected by Big Red gum. There was a cowboy and horse act in the talent show. Bev is holding the costume horse head while watching the show. Monica calls Vision “cowboy”.

Simon Williams is an actor. Actors play ‘cowboys’ in movies....

That dialog and the references can’t be throwaways.

I’m going crazy with these theories. Its fun!

@PerrinNation1 - Every episode of this show that comes out makes me want to re-analyze the previous episodes. I already can tell there's stuff in episode 1 that I'm not going to catch until I rewatch it in a few weeks.

@PerrinNation1 - sorry dude. That cowboy thing is ridiculous. Wait... Vision liked the name Billy because William Shakespeare. Actors do Shakespeare!! And the agents are watching Wanda and Vision on T.V. Actors are on T.V.!!! WONDER MAN CONFIRMED!!!

I know we still need to see Black Widow, but if it really hits it out of the park I'm hoping they keep Schaffer around for more projects. She's got a great feel for the history of the MCU and how/where to play off of it and she's been nailing things with WandaVision so far

Woo will discover that the yet to be seen Ralph is Simon, his missing person. Wanda will take his soul and give it to vision so vision is truly alive and not an Allusion. This will eventually (not in this series) bring in reaper. I could also see wanda making a deal to take wonder man’s soul that winds up allowing Mephisto to put his soul into her boys. How Agatha is involved, good, evil, or double agent, I can’t figure out

@ager - we don't know about ralph, agatha and dottie yet. even from the sword board they have no 'local' people tied to their tv personas yet like the rest of the wandavision cast.
we haven't even heard/seen if dottie has a husband. since dottie has white hair like agatha harkness and feige had to approve her personally i am guessing the 'woman you have to please', the woman that does stuff 'for the children' in westview aka dottie is agatha harkness... and her husband may be mephisto

@JonC - what do you feel is Agnes’ backstory? Do you believe Wonder Man is there in any way?

Given Wonderman being an actor it would be awesome if he showed up in this Wanda's TV universe. Especially given the connection to Vision in the comics.
