Greg Grunberg's 'Matt Parkman' Will Guest Star On HEROES REBORN

Greg Grunberg's 'Matt Parkman' Will Guest Star On HEROES REBORN

It seems another classic Heroes character has been added to the line-up of NBC's upcoming series revival: Heroes Reborn. Greg Grunberg's Matt Parkman will return this fall - but only in a more limited guest star arc this time around. Hit the jump for more details!

Despite initially appearing to distance itself from the original series, Tim Kring's upcoming Heroes Reborn has put together quite the collection of familiar faces recently. 'Noah Bennet', 'The Haitian' and 'Hiro Nakumura' are all confirmed to be returning to the NBC show. Now EW are reporting that we can add 'Matt Parkman's name to that list, with actor Greg Grunberg (Felicity) apparently on board to return as well as the telepathic former cop.

Grunberg had originally denied that he would be appearing in the revival when he was quizzed on the matter last year, but he appears to have had a change of heart. Notably, unlike Jack Coleman's Bennet, Parkman will only appear in a guest starring capacity. This situation arguably represents the best of both worlds - capturing the nostalgia of Parkman's return, without oversaturating the new show with too many old faces and storylines.

What do you think of Grunberg's return? Are you excited to see the older characters return, or would you rather Heroes Reborn act as a fresh slate for the series? As always, leave your thoughts in the comments section below!

Is anyone actually going to watch this. The original series went into the toilet really fast.

His filmography says he's in Star Wars The Force Awakens....

No thanks. Only thing I watched on NBC was Constantine and they canceled it. Heroes sucked after season one. There are actual great comic book shows now. NBC is desperately trying to get a piece of it with a dead franchise.

@ComicsBornAndBred - That doesn't surprise me, he's a good pal of JJ Abrams'. He guest starred in the Lost pilot back in the day, so he's probably got a cameo in Star Wars too.

I'm gonna watch. The show did lose it, but remember how great that first season was? There's potential

@Minty I figured that was the case. Daniel Craig, Greg Grunberg: so far two notable cameos. Wonder who else JJ will put in there

The ending from the 1st season was one of the best from any CB TV series.

Yeah....went down hill after that...

Let hope they just do 6 - 10 Eps......If it's a hit....go for another season...

@RorMachine - Agreed. That first season was insanely good. I feel they gotta cut ties with the old series though. Bringing back Bennet & The Haitian was a smart move, but any other returns ought to be guest spots like this. I'll be watching this.

The people at NBC are MORONS!!!
They had a perfectly good comic book

@ComicsBornAndBred he voiced Kirk's step in the 2009 Star Trek so it will probably be something really small like that.

I am going to give it a chance. The premise was great, but then too little money to do cool effects and a writers strike killed it. If they can get back to what worked but with a new angle (which means that have to find a new mcguffin besides alternate timelines) I think this could be a surprise hit.

@ComicsBornAndBred He's been in almost everything JJ's directed i believe, or produced, friends since childhood. Him appearing, if even as an extra or very minor role, plus his fictional slusho drink appear in almost every project.

I always loved Heroes. Sure Season 2 was ehhh but I love the rest and it still beats the shit out of the CW (Arrow,Flash, crappy Legends of Tomorrow) and most other comic book related shows.

Not sure how I feel about this. Parkman wasn't the worst character on Heroes but he certainly wasn't the best either.

The show was great until the creator left the series after the second season. Now he's back in the drivers seat but I don't really care to see a bunch of new characters. I would be more interested if he had most of the original cast and got it going back on the right track. I just not interested in Heroes without Peter Patrelli, Sylar, Claire, and Hiro.
