*Spoiler Alert*

So tonight I watched the series premier of
The Cape, NBC's newest superhero show. I have been waiting for this show for quite some time now and I was not sure what to expect. Although I am not giving it any awards yet I was not disappointed.

The show started strong by quickly introducing a few primary characters then jumping right into the action. The destructive device used in the first action sequence caused some type of explosion which was pretty cool, (normally you only get implosions in space shows).

The framing of Faraday was a little rushed for my taste; the villain did not have to reveal himself right away even though the accent was a giveaway. The sequence however ended with another cool explosion and a narrow escape so the creators get another bonus.

I liked the bank robbing circus folk; they remind me of a Joker's crew on anti-psychotics. Summer Glau as a sexy ass kicking blogger was beautiful and classy. The main bad guy Chess is a little lame but he is a good actor so I'll give him a chance. The French assassin had a cool knife holster. I really liked the idea of a killer squad based of the major arcane of the tarot cards; this is a unique sub-plot and if it has been done before I missed it.

The Cape himself has some promise. I was expecting another rogue cop whining and trying to prove his innocents. But a flash back sequence revealed this guy has some black-op military background and this leaves room for character depth. His wife is a lawyer so she is not the weak damsel in distress and that helps.

Bottom line I liked the first episode. I will watch again Monday the 17th and go from their. This show has a lot of potential, lets see what the cast and crew does with it.
