Millie Bobby Brown's DAMSEL And 5 Other Original Netflix Movies Pushed To 2024

Millie Bobby Brown fans will have to wait a little longer to see the Stranger Things star in action as a dragon-slaying warrior, as Netflix's Damsel, along with 5 other movies, has been pushed to 2024.

The SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes are causing major headaches for Hollywood studios, but they are also having an impact on streaming services, and Netflix has now decided to push six of its original movies into next year.

The biggest of these projects is arguably Juan Carlos Fresnadillo's (28 Weeks Later, Intruders) fantasy adventure Damsel, which stars Stranger Things alum Millie Bobby Brown as a princess named Elodie who agrees to marry the charming Prince Henry before coming to realize that the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to a dragon to repay an ancient debt.

When she realizes that no one is coming to save her, Elodie decides to take matters into her own hands and slay the fire-breathing beast herself.

We've only seen a brief teaser and a couple of promo images for Damsel, but early word has been very positive, and Brown's legions of fans are sure to be disappointed that the movie will no longer be debuting this October as originally scheduled.

The five other films are: Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman's A Family Affair, Kevin Hart comedy Lift, Damon Wayans Jr and Gina Rodriguez's Players, Regina King's Shirley Chisholm biopic Shirley, and Adam Sandler's sci-fi comedy Spaceman.

Netflix has yet to make the delays official, but we expect an announcement over the weekend.

Check out the promo below, and keep an eye on SFFGazette.com for all your sci-fi and fantasy news.

@grif - It's really from one moment/scene very in particular. And because of the pain in the ass that is internet coding, you'll need a smart phone to see this image proper.

So it's like John Wick but it's a princess in the middle ages.

This will not be good.

While people have been focused on the proliferation of comic book films, there seems to have also been an uptick in the number of "sword and sandals" films.

I find it difficult to believe MBB has one fan, much less fan(s) plural.

@bl0odwerk - Crazy right? It's not like she's a talented, personable, attractive actress who's the star of one of the biggest tv shows of all time

Sigh. Another project that thinks it's original to have a princess in peril who's actually a bada$$ who can take care of herself.

Has no one ever seen shrek?

@Origame - That's been the template for almost every movie of this sort for decades. It's almost like the damsel in distress trope has been outdated for most of our lives and the badass female warrior trope replaced it decades ago. It's tiresome which means Hollywood is nowhere near done with it

The YouTube video uploaded is not even an official one. It consists clips from "The Princess" starring Joey King. The level of journalism is quite disappointing to say the least.
