Netflix's The Witcher: Blood Origin has found its male lead, with Deadline reporting that Irish actor Laurence O’Fuarain (Game of Thrones, Vikings, Black 47) has joined the cast of the upcoming prequel series as Fjall.

The character is described as a warrior who was "born into a clan sworn to protect a King, Fjall carries a deep scar within, the death of a loved one who fell in battle trying to save him. A scar that won’t let him settle, or make peace with himself or the world around him. In his quest for redemption, Fjall will find himself fighting beside the most unlikely of allies as he carves a path of vengeance across a continent in turmoil."

That unlikely ally is probably Jodie Turner-Smith's (Queen and Slim, True Blood, Nightflyers) Éile, a warrior turned travelling musician from a rival clan.

Though Fjall's race is not mentioned here, previous character breakdowns have indicated that he will be an elf.

Rumors have indicated that another character named Princess Merwyn will be a key part of the show, but that's yet to be confirmed.

Plot details are still mostly under wraps, but we do know that Blood Origin will be set 1200 years before the events of the original show, and focus on the origin of the very first Witcher and the events that lead to the pivotal "conjunction of the spheres."

Declan de Barra will serve as showrunner and will also executive produce along with Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. The Witcher novelist Andrzej Sapkowski is on board as creative consultant.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is set to commence production in The UK later this year.

Soooo what is this? A prequel?
Cavill is still doing Witcher season 2 right? I’d much prefer them to keep his character front and center.

I feel like this show will suck, but I hope the cast can have fun and elevate the material.
