Working on The Witcher continues in the UK, and while we've seen quite a few set photos, Redanian Intelligence has shared some big casting news for season two. The site, a reliable source of information for the series, reveals that Scottish actress Rebecca Hanssen has been cast as Meve, the Queen of Lyria and Rivia in Andrzej Sapkowski's novels.
It's unclear what role she'll have in the series, but it seems likely that the character will be key to how Geralt's story plays out. Apparently, Meve will show up in the episodes directed by Sarah O'Gorman and Ed Bazalgette, and as they're working on three, four, five, and eight, expect her to have a big presence.
In The Witcher novels, Queen Meve is known for her wisdom and beauty. When the Second Nilfgaard War broke out and her small realm was conquered, she led guerrillas into many battles wearing her iconic white armor. In one such battle her face was wounded, and she was left with disfiguring scars. Hanssen is definitely younger than we might have expected for this character, though.
