ANDOR Wraps Filming On 12-Episode Season; Diego Luna Says "You’ll Definitely See Familiar Faces"

It looks like Disney+'s upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spinoff series Andor has officially wrapped filming, and star Diego Luna is now teasing cameos from a number of familiar faces.

While this year's Disney+ releases have been dominated by one stellar Marvel Studios series after another, there's a lot of Star Wars content coming in the not-so-distant future, and following this December's expected debut of The Book of Boba Fett, fans will be sent a little further into the past with Andor

The series will reveal the origin story of Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), and explore a somewhat murky era of the Star Wars timeline as we catch up with the fan-favorite hero long before he linked up with Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) for their game-changing mission to secure plans to the first Death Star.

Speaking with Deadline, Luna reveals that the series has officially wrapped filming. “You’ll definitely see familiar faces, I can tell you about this project like no other because I can’t spoil the ending if you’ve seen Rogue One already. No matter what I say, I can’t ruin the ending.

Whether that means some other Rogue One cast members show up remains to be seen, but it's hard to imagine there won't be a number of big cameos, even if the series turns out to be a one-and-done leading directly into the events of the movie.

For now, in addition to Luna, the cast will feature Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Robert Emms, Genevieve O'Reilly as Mon Mothma, and Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera.

Luna understandably couldn't divulge much else, but he did express his excitement about how happy he was with the series.

To be honest, it’s been such a blessing to do this job and to do it under these circumstances. I had the chance to work with a team that I couldn’t be more proud of and admire more. It’s a hard-core moment to be out there shooting, and we were really lucky. We’re done with the shooting now and getting it ready for audiences to see it.”

While I can’t say much, what I can tell you is that the experience was literally a transformation for me. It’s something that I really wanted to do and that I thought I was not going to be able to do. I’m more than happy.

Toby Haynes directed the pilot, with a script from Tony Gilroy. The first season is expected to run for twelve episodes.

Andor debuts exclusively on Disney+ in 2022.

Would love to see a few legends characters debut. Maybe a certain Rebel commando who went on to become a Jedi?

Didney finally did it, they mad a Star Wars show I couldn't care less about. They put in their work chipping away at my fandom until I reached the point of shrugging in disappointment.

@inkniron - haha no joke I feel the exact same! Lifelong fan and I am excited as hell for Obi-Wan - and I’ve grown to appreciate and like Rogue One a lot as the years I’ve gone on - but goddamn I have a negative interest in this show. TLJ, Rise of Skywalker and Solo really did my fandom in and if it wasn’t for Mandalorian I’d be out for good.

Meh, don't really care about this one. Rogue One was fine at best, and he was one of the weakest characters

Well, as long as their are "familiar faces", then I guess we're good. <-----sarcasm.

But, seriously, I've watch all of the Star Wars live action films/shows, and I'll watch this one. And I'll find enjoyable things about it to make worth my while. I may not enjoy them enough to watch any of them a second time, but I do enjoy watching them at least once. There's good sh*t in all of them.

Keep forgetting this is even being made.

No expectations for this…but maybe it has that in its favor.

He's talking about Mon Mothma, Bail Organa, Saw Gerrera, K2SO, etc.

Could we see Vader/Anakin, C-3PO, Kenobi? They are filming Kenobi, maybe they filmed something extra for Andor.

Guess we have to wait until next year to find out.

@Timerider84 - Threepio and Artoo will probably appear too. Don't think we'll see Vader and Kenobi too. Maybe Temeura is another clone role too

Lol this is like making a 12 episode series on Taserface from Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

@Chaos200 - No it isn’t. Cassian was the second lead in Rogue One. It’s like making a Drax show.

@suitekid - I've seen Drax multiple times in multiple movies this guy was in one alright movie and was the least interesting character, Taserface might actually be more interesting.

I still can’t get my head around this. Let’s take a character, from a prequel movie with zero characters…. And do a prequel to it. Boggles the mind. What do I know though it’s Star Wars and people seem to watch any crap with that name on it so good for them

I suppose they could put R2 & 3PO throughout the whole series if they wanted to do so.

Thought they might have learned something from Solo. Why make a movie/series about a character set at the point before he has the epiphany that makes him interesting? All this can show us is more context for the stuff we already know about the character. 12 episodes?
