ANDOR's Latest Episode Was Another Slow-Burn As That Big Heist Finally Draws Near - SPOILERS

Andor has been a slow burn from the start, but as we near the halfway point, it's becoming increasingly clear that Lucasfilm made the right decision when they decided that season 2 would devote three episodes to each year in Cassian Andor's life instead of twelve.

Much of "The Axe Forgets" is spent on Aldhani as the title character continues to familiarise himself with those Rebels. He's there after being promised money by Luthen Rael, of course, and after a lot of preparation, Cassian reveals that he's a mercenary after a confrontation with Skeen sees the Kyber crystal he's looking after revealed to the rest of that team.

They need Cassian more than they realise, though, and everyone agrees that it's best to put their differences to one side if they hope to succeed in the theft of those Imperial funds.

They have a man on the inside which helps, but something tells us this heist will get messy fast.

Elsewhere in "The Axe Forgets," Meero is still looking to uncover what looks to be the beginnings of the Rebellion, while Karn is having to rely on his mother's help when it comes to finding a new job. While these scenes confirm that cereal exists in the Star Wars Universe, the biggest takeaway is that he's still very much obsessed with Cassian and no doubt looking for revenge.

We then catch up with Mon Mothma and learn more about her uncomfortable dynamic with her very right-wing family. Finally, we return to Luthen as he nervously paces through his den of antiquities waiting for news on the heist. When his assistant points out that it will all be done by the next day, the Rebel responds, "Or it’ll just be starting..."

In terms of talking points, there aren't many. The latest episode of Andor is painfully slow in places, and light on Easter Eggs. It still doesn't feel very Star Wars-y, though some fans love that. Others, however, are counting down the days until Din Djarin and Grogu return in The Mandalorian

Really enjoying this show. The way it’s taking it’s time works and makes you care about the characters. The dialogue is great too.

@GhostDog - I like this show for the same reasons. But I also feel similar to rings of power. Yet there's a surprising amount of people who don't like it.

Both shows Have beautiful vista's. Slow burns. True character moments.
The only thing I can gather is that rings of power isn't faithful to the books. And Tolkien fans can be very strict and conservative about that sort of thing

@GhostDog - So am I and I wonder if it doesn't shed more light on why they wanted the GOT showrunners not so long ago. That's what this feels like so far, and I'm not against it at all. I keep thinking Mon Mothma is gonna, get screwed by her husband or something will happen so that the fam is out of the picture. She deserves better.

@Vigor - Well there was only so much the Tolkien estate would allow to be used for the show for reasons concerning how it would be portrayed by Amazon. Apparently this goes back to the films too, even though I enjoyed those.

@Vigor - lol. Rings of Power had zero real characterization and the dialogue is painfully bad. 6 episodes in now. Not the case in this series. Poor ass comparison by any metric.

@McMurdo - I think the dialogue is lovely. I have captions on. So anytime an elf speaks, I swoon lol

Mon Mothma’s asshole husband returns! (Legit every scene she’s in I’m waiting for him to show up) It’s such an uncomfortable dynamic

@noahthegrand - he’s such a dick. They capture how uncomfortable situations like that can be, so well. Especially with the daughter thrown into the mix, her clearly favoring the father.

@GhostDog - I also think what makes it so strange and something that’s kind of caught peoples attention is that we’ve never seen this kind of dysfunctional relationship in Star Wars before. Like say what you will about Padme and Anakin, they actually liked each other

Who knew what Star Wars was always missing was a show including a failing marriage…

@GhostDog - due to her career it seems like Mon Mothma could be a bit absent as a mother leading to her daughter thinking she doesn’t actually want to do things with her and is just doing it for appearances. Her husband also seems though like he could be the kind of person who favors the daughter so that she’ll side with him more

I really love the character moments on this show and the ways it’s depicting the bureaucratic evil of the empire from a ground level and a psychological perspective. The way it infiltrates every aspect of life and even the minds of the people it oppresses. It feels like one of the newer Timothy Zahn Thrawn books set during the height of the empire. though I know a lot of writers who get clicks from big reveals, cameos, and updates to the lore of the universe. I guess you can’t really get away with “STAR WARS REVEALS CEREAL EXISTS IN SHOCKING MOMENT”

Absolutely love it. The writing is great and it actually requires you to pay attention and focus. What a change from BofBF and OW.

One thing I love about this show is it makes the empire not only feel like something that could exist functionally but it’s actually threatening. It seems like an insurmountable obstacle because it bleeds into every aspect of life on the show. A single tie fighter can be made scary because it’s all from ground level.

It’s pretty slow. Good so far. Boba, OW, Mando have been more entertaining overall for me.

I don't get excited about this show, but I watch it anyway and find it really relaxing.

I love the dialogue. It's not very natural, but it has a real stagey, quirky rhythm to it. I could just listen to characters talk about lemon juice or stock drops or anything all day.

Both plot and characters are intriguing, but neither one has much development. I'm guessing things will develop by the end, but considering we're nearly halfway through Season One, it really is a very slow burn.

Visually is great but their storytelling leaves a lot to be desired, man...

Really felt like this could be interesting after that first two episodes now it seems like it’s a lot of build up. A little slow for me but I’ll be ok with it if the next episode really picks up. Right now this is the lowest on the totem pole of good Star Wars series for me.

Excellent show. Diego is fantastic. Zero complaints.

Can't wait for their mission to go tits up lol.

I haven’t seen this new one yet, but I loved the first 4 episodes. I don’t get why some people don’t like it. It’s mature, shows us sides of the Star Wars universe we haven’t seen before, well acted, provides nuance to the resistance and the Empire, and is well acted and shot.

To quote all the She Hulk stans “If you don’t like it why are you still watching it and commenting on it?”

It’s a wonderfully acted, scripted and shot show. However, I would like more action. I love almost all things Star Wars but this a lot for a minor character whose ending that we all know. Still much better than any of the shit WB or DC puts out.

Seems more like a prequel story for Blade Runner than Star Wars..

At some point these articles will have to stop using the term "slow-burn". So far after reading about the show I have seen this description for every episode but have yet to read about the "burn" part ever mentioned. From my perspective as someone who isn't watching but is following episode it just seems very slow for having half the season out already.

Are they just copying Avasarela's amazing story and character from The Expanse for Mon Mothma? I was afraid they might do that before show started and it seems they are so far.
