STAR WARS: Check Out The Gritty First Trailer And Poster For Disney+'s ANDOR Ahead Of Its August Debut

Lucasfilm has finally released the first Andor trailer, and it's fair to say this is going to be a Star Wars series unlike any that's preceded it! Check that out, and more news about the show, here...

Star Wars Celebration kicked off with a panel looking at Lucasfilm's upcoming movies and TV shows, and the studio has now shared the first trailer and poster for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel, Andor (via SFFGazette.com).

During the event, it was confirmed that Lucasfilm has shot 12 episodes of Andor, with plans for a second season (also consisting of 12 episodes) now official. The first 12 will take place 5 years before the events of Rogue One, with the second lot set during the subsequent 4; based on what those in attendance are saying, the finale will take us straight into Cassian's first scene in the 2016 movie.

24 episodes for this prequel series is certainly ambitious, but it sounds like the plan is to explore this era in a way that hasn't been done before. Between that and the chance to follow the title character's story, we can't help but be intrigued by where this is going.

Andor will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.

Diego Luna returns as Cassian Andor and is joined by cast members Genevieve O’Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough and Kyle Soller.

Take a look at the first trailer and poster for Andor below!

@AmazingFILMporg - Whenever I hear this silly argument, I always think the same thing:

You see all those original IPs that you fell in love with when you saw them in cinema/TV? John Wick, Everything Everywhere All at Once, Terminator, Free Guy, etc. Guess what, nobody asked for them.

So a slightly less-knwon/less-popular pre-established IP like Andor, Peacemaker, etc, has as much chance to succeed as an original IP, if not more. And it can and will succeed with the audience -and potentielly with you- if it's adapted by the right people.

You might say, "well I want them to invest their time and money on X, because I love X and I want to see it on screen", and hey I understand. But if everybody is asking for X as much as you are, don't you think they would've done it by now?

If they didn't, I'd theorize it's either in development hell, or nobody's asking for it as much as you are. What, you don't think they want to make money off of you?

@marvel72 - Has nothing to do with his opinion on one thing. This dude, along with folks like you, never have anything to contribute other than miserable bullshit. It's lousy af.

No one likes complainers. Having a negative opinion about something here and there, cool. ALWAYS having a negative opinion tho... nah dude. That's just being a loser.

But hey...by all means, hide behind the "that's my opinion, I can say whatever I want" nonsense. You and the complainer committee just looking like a bunch of whiners.

Look, I love the new “LED screen” technology and it’s far better for actors than green screen but I’m I the only one that feels like all of these shows look exactly the same… I don’t know maybe I’m crazy. Looking forward to this though
Twenty23Three

@NOID - that’s less the technology and more ‘this is what Star Wars looks like’
Fares
Fares - 5/27/2022, 6:52 AM
@Twenty23Three - Star Wars' look should've evolved. It may be unpopular to say, but today Star Wars' Aliens shouldn't look like people in rubber Power Rangers villains costumes just because George Lucas made the first one back in the 70's with a limited budget. And that should extend to all visual aspects in my opinion.
SonOfOdor
SonOfOdor - 5/27/2022, 12:14 PM
@Fares - Eh I kinda disagree. Keeping the visual design inspiration from the original movies adds a bit of charm to the new Star Wars projects for me. It's a bit of a nostalgia kick and it makes the new shows/movies feel that much more connected to the older movies. Makes it a less jarring transition when you watch all of the different eras.
Fares
Fares - 5/27/2022, 12:34 PM
@SonOfOdor - I understand the appeal of it for someone who had Star Wars as part of their life for a long time. That doesn't happent to be the case for me, but I understand it.

I just suspect it won't bode well with future generations. Even George Lucas himself tried to update some of the aesthetic with the prequels, but that didn't seem to persist. For some reason people prefer puppet Yoda over CGI Yoda and that's fine I guess.

But I remember for example watching Boba Fett and seeing those Gamorrean guards and man I can't lie, it just felt like I was watching a cheap stage play. It takes me out of the immersion.

From my personal perspective, and I know I'm in the minority, if you can make something feel more real/organic/living as it's meant to be within the universe, whether it can be done with practical effects or CG, you should go for it.

It also got me wondering about something else, and I'd like to hear other people's perspectives on it: Do you think that the Luke/Anakin saga will ever be remade in the far future? Or will the universe persist in the same continuity expanding into other stories and creating new characters?

I'm not talking in a decade or two, but something between 50 to a 100 years from now, if the art of filmmaking remains more or less as we know it today.

If I had to guess, I would say yes. Some day it has to happen. And even though it might not happen in our lifetime, I'd be curious to see what kind of updates they bring to the story from a pure visual perspective.

I certainly think that A New Hope hasn't aged all that well (please don't kill me!!), and if it was up to me, I would remake it today.
SonOfOdor
SonOfOdor - 5/27/2022, 4:49 PM
@Fares - Yeah I completely get that perspective, and I would actually agree except that, for me, the cg characters never actually feel more real/organic. George did try to update the visuals and that went...not too well lol

For me, cg creatures often still feel like cg. Nowadays it's cg that doesn't really bother me or take me out of what I'm watching, but rarely do cg characters feel "real" to me.

No I don't think they would ever go so far as to remake episodes 1-6/ Given the Disney era track record I wouldn't even want them to at this point lol I don't think any kind of official remake would happen until we reach some kind of groundbreaking technology in media consumption. Not talking like "3D" level tech, but like some sort of virtual viewing experience where you are fully immersed in the movie like you are there or something haha at that point, remake away!
Fares
Fares - 5/27/2022, 5:05 PM
@SonOfOdor - Yeah I get what you're saying. If we reach such a radical development in the technology that the film-going experience changes on a fundamental level, like VR movies or whatever, then I would imagine the studios remaking every classic movie that ever existed at that point.

Looks fantastic. Love the aesthetic and grateful that it doesn’t include a lick of desert. Seems that moving away from OT characters gives writers/directors more space to be creative and interesting. I’m on board for this more than OB1.

Unrelated but using his full name for the Obi-Wan show has always bugged me. The cleanness of this title reminds me of that.

A bunch of pretty images that we can only hope will translate to a good story, but I have my reservations.

And this character was probably one of the least interesting in Rogue One.

I would rather a series about the two Asian guys.
