#3 Ororo Munroe/Storm

Storm (Ororo Iqadi T'Challa, née Munroe) is a fictional character that appears in a number of comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character first appeared in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (May 1975), and was created by writer Len Wein and artist Dave Cockrum. Best known as a longtime member and sometimes leader of the X-Men, Storm is the reigning queen consort of Wakanda, a title held by marriage to King T'Challa, better known as the Black Panther.

dmb1511: Storm is one of those characters that is required not just to show the strength of black women, but women as a whole. Though storm is a strong Nationalist and display’s pride in her origins, she is in the league of Wonder Woman in the ways she shows strength as a female character. The X-Men cartoon is what truly introduced me to Storm. This also followed the film adaption of the character starring the talented Halle Berry. Storm was one of the first black comic book characters, and the first black female, to play either a major or supporting role in the big two comic book houses, Marvel Comics and DC Comics. That is amazing.

bigshow2312: The lady of rage is our liaison to the X-Men group. Storm has the double dosage for being feared by the majority: black and mutant. She embodies the aura of classy and daring black women every where, especially through the many concept changes of her dawned punk costume, soul sista, or even the famed sorceress-chic attire. In addition, she doesn’t just represent black women, but also women in general. I personally adore the fact of her being fully covered in costume (in most comics), showing that women in comic-books don’t essentially have to be stripped all of the time.

Respectable.

The white suit in bigshow's paragraph is a super-suit that I often forget about, but when I see it it reminds me that it may be one of my top suits of all time.
