With 2022 on its way out, we're going to start looking ahead to next year with our epic 2023 movie preview, where we'll spotlight nearly every major upcoming release studio-by-studio.
Universal Pictures is bringing the heat in 2023, kickstarting the year with the horror thriller M3GAN in the first week of January, before taking us inside M. Night Shyamalan's brain with Knock at the Cabin. We then have Elizabeth Banks' Cocaine Bear to wrap up February, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie around Easter!
Then, get ready for a huge summer with the return of Vin Diesel and his family in Fast X and Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated Oppenheimer!

M3GAN
The James Wan/Jason Blum-produced M3GAN has been generating all kinds of buzz ever since its first trailer dropped earlier this year and the wait to meet her is nearly over. The early buzz has been solid and word on the street is that Universal is already eyeing a sequel, so this could be one of 2023's earliest success stories.

Distant
Josh Gordon and Will Speck's sci-fi comedy Distant is set to open in theaters next month and we have yet to see a trailer or poster, so there's a chance this ends up getting delayed again or potentially pushed to streaming. Either way, it does have a likeable cast.

Knock at the Cabin
After Old grossed over $90 million at the box office last year, M. Night Shyamalan is back this February with another intriguing psychological horror thriller, Knock at the Cabin. The film will follow a family of three who get taken hostage by four strangers who demand they make the ultimate sacrifice to avert the apocalypse.

Cocaine Bear
If that name didn't sell you, I don't know what will. Elizabeth Banks directs this dark comedy, which is loosely based on the true story of a black bear that consumed a duffel bag full of cocaine, although this one is going on a murderous rampage for the record books!

The Super Mario Bros. Movie
The Super Mario Bros. Movie will bring the adventures of Mario and Luigi to the big screen for the first time in thirty years and knowing Illumination's track record, expect this one to blow your socks off this coming Spring!

Renfield
Nicholas Hoult teams up with Nic Cage in the horror comedy Renfield, with the former playing the title character and Cage playing the legendary Count Dracula. Set photos have ensured plenty of spooky laughs as Renfield falls in love with a traffic cop.

Fast X
Fast X has faced a myriad of issues since production began, but we can't deny that this should be one of the most fun blockbsuters of the year, especially with pretty much the entiry family back together. A new adversary named Dante (Jason Momoa) will be teaming up with Cipher (Charlize Theron) to bring pain to Dom (Vin Diesel) and the Fast Family, who will bring their own reinforcements as Tess (Brie Larson) enters the fray.

Will Ferrell voices Reggie in the live-action adult animated comedy Strays, where a group of abandoned dogs will band together to get revenge on their former owners. It's also produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, which should only add to the excitement.

Oppenheimer
Christopher Nolan's name alone should provide more than enough reason to buy a ticket for Oppenheimer, which will retell the true story of the Manhattan Project, but if you still need some convincing then just take a look at this insane cast list.

The Last Voyage of the Demeter
2023 promises to be a big year for vampires, and for Dracula in particular, as this is the second film on this list to feature the most iconic vamp of them all. We saw a preview at CinemaCon last year, and would advise not sleeping on this one as the crew of a merchant ship find themselves in for the most frightful voyage of them all.

Untitled Please Don't Destroy Film
The comedy group Please Don't Destroy, who are Saturday Night Live cast members, are getting their own movie and while we don't know anything else just yet, the synopsis reads, "Three childhood friends who live and work together, don't like where their lives are headed, and set off to find gold treasure rumored to be buried on a nearby mountain."

Untitled The Exorcist Film
The Exorcist franchise returns next Fall with David Gordon Green (Halloween Ends) at the helm and Jason Blum producing, so expect some welcome scares!

Trolls 3
The Trolls are returning to theaters for their third feature film and we'd imagine the box office receipts will be considerably better this time around as it won't have a pandemic to reckon with.

We don't know anything about Migration, but it's coming to us from Illumination with a potential synopsis reasing, "A family of ducks try to convince their overprotective father to go on the vacation of a lifetime."
