JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3 Officially Gets A Prime Summer 2019 Release Date

Following the mega-success of John Wick: Chapter 2 which grossed over $171.5 million worldwide on a modest $40 million budget, Lionsgate has officially dated the third chapter, which is tentatively titled John Wick: Chapter 3, for a May 19, 2019 release.

Keanu Reeves will return for his third adventure as the eponymous revenge-seeking ex-hitman while Derek Kolstad, who penned the first two films, will return to write the script. Plot details remain under wraps.

The film currently has no competition set for opening weekend, but will likely face some heavy opposition at the box office from Marvel's untitled Avengers 4, which opens two weeks prior, and Guy Ritchie's live-action Aladdin reboot which opens the following week during the Memorial Day holiday.

Bring on the Baba Yaga, or however you spell it

@webdude1 - Just like that :) From what I know, but I haven't googled it, it is a russian folktale, a ghost story. Baba Yaga was some sort of female witch I think.

Probably this decades best new franchise.

@MasterMix - I'm really into the lore of the Continental Assassin brotherhood. Especially the different codes they follow along with how deep in the world their operation runs.

It would be interesting after Chapter 3 if the team creates a spinoff series for HBO or Netflix strictly about the brotherhood. Maybe follow a new hitman and dive into the history of the organization.

@SonOfAGif - Actually they are. This is part of an article I found: In June 2017, it was reported that a prequel series titled "The Continental" is in active development. The series will focus on the hotel chain that acts as a neutral ground for assassins, as opposed the character John Wick.

These movies have script lol?

@KIDCOM - Well considering Keanu Reeves is a pretty bland actor, one would argue it felt like the film had a plot but John had no range.

Behind John Wick's dry demeanor there is an interesting world and plot in there.

@SonOfAGif - tbh I've always thought Keanu was a strong actor and he did a lot in Chapters 1 and 2 to inject personality into a hardened killer. Not an Oscar worthy performance by any means, but still a stellar performance for an action-heavy film

The second one had Laurence Fishburne. This one should have Carrie-Anne Moss.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - Or even go as far as to make the main bad guy played by Hugo Weaving.

Why bother? The first was awesome but simple, and the second was just shit.

@nikgrid - Personally I think the second was awesome, but much simpler than the first. The script was weaker but the fight scenes were incredible. The fight between John and Common was some Looney Tunes shit in the best way

I say let Alex Winter feature as John Wick's rival from back in the day as the sort of Vicious to his Spike. The WILD STALION
