That first Pirates of the Caribbean was something else. It was this generation's Star Wars in a way, being that it was such a massive surprise both in quality and box office. Since then the franchise has steadily gone down hill. Now I'd be the first to tell you that Dead Man's Chest is a worthy (and great) sequel to Curse of The Black Pearl, but the three to follow weren't so good.
So here we are with Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth Pirates movie. Who woulda thought that a movie based off of a Disney theme park ride would expand across five films? I bet not a single person thought that back in 2003. Dead Men Tell No Tales isn't terrible, it really isn't even all that bad, its just meh. The story is much more intersting this time around and the villain is far more enjoyable as apposed to Black Beard in On Stranger Tides. But by the time the credits roll, you have this feeling that this series is just washed up. Full review below:
