Will we be paying allegiance to the Authority or getting our heads kicked in?

Personally, I’m a fan of the first few trades and the concept behind the group. But with gay superheroes, ultra violence, and killing god being part of the well written and fun plot lines; I can also see this being a bit too controversial for the bipolar American audiences.
So what do you think?
…And yes I can already know some moron is going to go on a juvenile homophobic rant.
