DreamWorks Animation recently acquired the rights to do a "Captain Underpants" animated feature film. The film, based on the popular children's novel series by Dave Pilkey, will be penned by Nicholas Stoller ("Get Him to The Greek" & "The Muppets") and directed by Rob Letterman ("Monsters vs Aliens") who will also be directing the upcoming "Goosebumps" film.

As for the cast, Mr.Krupp/Captain Underpants will be voiced by Ed Helms of the "The Hangover" series. Kevin Hart ("Ride Along") and Thomas Middleditch ("The Wolf of Wall Street") will be voicing George and Harold, the 4th graders who create Captain Underpants. The movie will also star Nick Kroll of FX's "the League" as the villainous Professor Poopypants and Jordan Peele of "Key & Peele" as the boys 4th grade nemesis.

There's no clear information on what the story is going to be with a very vague and basic IMDB description. Still, based on the cast of characters the screenplay will be a combination of books in the series, with a focus on the first book to establish the creation of Captain Underpants.

"Captain Underpants" is slated for a March 2017 release.

Let me know what you hope to see from this, the ultimate of kids superhero movies, if you hope to see it at all!

Read this in grade school! Not sure I can be excited about it, but that's a pretty solid team for an animated film about underpants.
