BLACK SANDS: THE SEVEN KINGDOMS Anime Series Announced

Hollywood entertainment magazine Deadline reports that Black Sands Entertainment, the pioneering black comic book publisher founded by Army veterans Manuel and Geiszel Godoy, has joined forces with Carl Reed's Composition Media (the studio behind the Oscar-winning short, "Hair Love") in a multi-million dollar anime production deal. Black Sands was featured on TV in "Shark Tank". The inaugural project under this momentous agreement is set to be an anime TV series adaptation of the highly acclaimed comic, "Black Sands: The Seven Kingdoms."

Per Manuel Godoy, the vision of Black Sands is to showcase the rich history of Black people before slavery—a subject seldom explored in today's entertainment landscape. Per Carl Reed, they want to affirm identity and ignite ambition "in a generation that rightfully deserves to see themselves portrayed heroically on screen.” 

Embarking on an extraordinary odyssey through ancient lands, "Black Sands: The Seven Kingdoms" unveils a captivating geopolitical tale set in a world where human civilization is divided and nations compete for limited resources, all while being observed by the "ancients", the gods from above. The impulsive, young prince Ausar, the grandson of the reigning phaoraoh, Rah, is the protagonist of this story. Driven by a lofty aspiration to rule ancient Kemet, he is joined by faithful comrades: Seth, who manipulates sand and perception, his sister Auset, who commands the forces of nature, and Nehbet, skilled in deception. They are thrust into the heart of intricately woven conflicts and family discord, where Ausar grapples with the complexities of war and encounters formidable ancient gods.

The visually stunning, manga-like comic book series, also in the form of a graphic novel, reflects early African and Middle Eastern history, interweaving rich mythology and deeper character insights.
