Richard Suckie and Ted Koplar, the producers of the live action film, have confirmed the fact that they are indeed still working on voltron. This was unexpected seeing as multiple sources we're saying that the film had been scrapped. They plan to release the film after the tie-in television series....that's right. A new animated series is serving as "a lead-in to the live-action film"

The producers sat down with MTV to talk about the film:

"As much as it has a very strong robot element, this is a movie and a franchise that is driven by characters — these five people that in some or another are a representation of all of us. It's really about how you have five different personalities working together in order to come together to form Voltron.

The whole show is about teamwork — about a group of kids with various backgrounds who learn that the only way they'll succeed is through the positive parts of each one's background and bringing it together to make the robot work.

It's not like we're doing anything far different from the source material other than to make it a character-driven film. The effects, the 3-D... The eye candy is the easy part. It's got to be a movie that has really dynamic, interesting characters and a really strong narrative. You know the eye candy is going to be there, because it's part of the fabric of the original material.

So that character-driven element is really what we're focusing on, and that's what the writers that we've been talking to have been told about what we want and what we're looking for.

I'm kind of on the fence with this one, but I only hope that these guys use Micheal Bay and Stephen Sommers as examples of what NOT to do. Other than that, I can't wait to see more.

How do you guys feel about the creation of both the new animated series and the live-action film? How do you think the film should be approached? Fan casts?

There's potential here. I grew up watching Voltron so I'm a bit biased about this film being made.

As big of a Voltron mark I am, I hate to say that I don't see a live action movie working. I'd love to be proven wrong, though. If they re-boot the cartoon, I hope it's not all anime overkill, like the last transformers shi...err, I mean version

Justin Marks has a great movie written.(Doesn't sound like his will be used.) Can Bay and Sommers be left out of cartoons to live action talk.(Bay's vision was good for the film making tech that we have now). A story that doesn't focus on going from the characters to a fx seq. Can be the adaptation most will like.

I remember Voltron. I love the five lions. Hated the 22 piece Voltron spin-off. Two much overkill.

But five piece should be more than enough to build some character development and still not lose sight of the overall Voltron.

I don't think that they should be little tweenie-bopper sharts. No way. But early-mid 20s should be enough for them.

They have the right idea about it being character development because like the cartoon, the focus was on the kids who got into the lions and of course formed Voltron. They still had lives, problems, etc outside of battle.

The hope that this doesn't turn into Power Rangers, even though before there were the Rangers, there was Voltron.

So I'll bite and wait and see and give them the benefit of the doubt.

If they do it like what JJ Abrams did with Star Trek then it should alright for them to follow a similar formula with Voltron.

When I refer to bay and sommers, I'm referring to the attempts of modernizing certain aspects of a franchise and getting it to make sense, which is completely fine, as long as you don't ruin it. I think these guys can do a great job.

sounds good and yes kids in movie yes if they could put kids here then they could make a teen titans movie with teen in them and not grown ups the only grown up should be Slade the main villain and cyborg.
