Anchorman writer and director Adam McKay played a major role in rewriting Edgar Wright's screenplay for Ant-Man, and the filmmaker has now confirmed that he'll be back for Ant-Man and The Wasp. He's previously stated that he was unsure about a return, but McKay is now going to be teaming up with Paul Rudd once again (he's currently working on the screenplay with Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari). 

"We’ve been talking to Marvel actually," McKay told Nerdist in a recent interview. "We just talked to them the other day, and it looks like I will be involved [in Ant-Man and the Wasp]. I don’t know if it’s gonna be right from page one. But it looks like I will definitely be involved. There you go. There’s a little headline for the fanboys!" 

This is fantastic news, and with McKay's latest movie The Big Short an Oscar favourite, managing to get the filmmaker back is a big win for Marvel. Whether or not he'll end up directing something for them remains to be seen though. Ant-Man and The Wasp is set to be released on July 6th, 2018, but we'll next see Ant-Man in Captain America: Civil War.

@AsgardianHobo - Well I did actually see the movie with my own eyes and, if you haven't seen it, I can confirm for you that it was awful.
When it first came out even die-hard Marvelites like Wilding put out reviews saying how it had flaws, not a great sign.
And people on this site praise box office haul like that actually speaks to quality, and if I recall, Ant-Man had the smallest MCU gross after The Incredible Hulk.
But again, go see the movie. It blows.

Ant-Man wasn't as well received as any other Marvel movie, so I was shocked that they would get the same writer to come back. Terrible was my word and I should have used it, but, to re-phrase, "why re-hire McKay when I didn't think the general consensus on the first one was overly favorable?"

I was shocked that they would re-hire the writer that wrote this shit movie. I thought/assumed that other people realized it was shit, so I say, "didn't everyone agree that this movie sucked?"
Other guy says no, and you ask why I would think that. I then went on to tell you why I would think that:

1) Weak BO
2) Weak(er) reviews than other MCU
3) I saw it, and it definitely sucked

I'm not arguing what the general consensus is, I accept your answer that people generally thought it was good. Please learn how to read.

I guess I'm just really, really disappointed at how many idiots there are. Especially ones that are willing to defend mediocre corporate ventures that have nothing to do with them.
