ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: Evidence Seems To Be Mounting That Cassie Lang Will Become Stature In The MCU

Rumour has it that we'll see an older Cassie Lang in Avengers 4 but recent comments from Abby Ryder Fortson and Kevin Feige point to Marvel Studios playing the long game with the character. Check it out...

While it's possible that Avengers 4 will take us both backwards and forwards in time (thereby explaining rumours of an older Cassie Lang showing up), it seems Marvel Studios is playing the long game with Scott Lang's daughter based on some recent comments from Kevin Feige. After pointing out that he's pleased moviegoers are embracing Abby Ryder Fortson, he was asked if Marvel is really thinking a decade into the future to a time where she could take over the mantle as Stature.

After pausing for a moment, Feige teased: "That's what happens in the comic." We know that Marvel plans out its movies well into the future so this does make sense and Fortson has increased speculation that this is the route the studio is going down by dropping some hints about Ant-Man and The Wasp.

"I think in this movie she really shows that she's really interested in becoming a superhero," the youngster teased. "In the last movie, she doesn't really wrap her head around it, so in this movie, she really wants to fight with her dad." When asked who she would become, Fortson quickly answered, "Stature." It is pretty amazing that Marvel is thinking this far ahead and Feige has dropped some big hints that they're mulling over a Young Avengers movie somewhere down the line. What do you think?

I just want to see Cassie have an adorable, insatiable crush on Spider-Man. Really playing on how Spidey's traditional creepy-crawli-ness undercuts the stereotype of the leading-man hero.

Just imagine a twelve-year-old Cassie growing to 80-feet tall to drop kick the Rhino across town "for hurting my Spidey."

@Spock0Clock - And Spider-Man leading an army of spiders thanks to the Pym technology.

@Repian - But spider's aren't eusocial! (Although, you could probably get the same effect by just throwing a bag of spiders at someone.)

(Quick Wiki skim later.)

Oh, I guess there are social spiders, but they don't seem to have to cooperative organization of something like an ant.

And personally, I like to think that Pym cracking ants was sort of an accident. Like there's a reason why he doesn't use bees and termites and cockroaches, because whatever controls the ants doesn't easily translate.

@Spock0Clock - I didn't think spiders bothered me until the image of someone throwing a bag of them at me got into my head...

It makes me positively giddy to know that there is a franchise bible out there, with the plans for the next 10 years all laid out.

I wonder how difficult it was for everyone to keep the “SHIELD is Hydra” reveal secret, since apparently it was part of the plan since before CA:TFA, or maybe even before IRON MAN 2.

I thought we were already here when they cast an older actress for A4.

Weren't there rumors about Emma Fuhrmann's casting as older Cassie?

@ExSOLDIER - It thinks it's true. Considering A4 will make a time jump and they weren't even subtil with the foreshadowing and hints in AMatW.

@Unites - Avengers 4 has to finish with the young Avengers gathering in front of the monument in homage to Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Thats how it should happen tbh. Wait for the years to pass. Theres no need for YA in the current MCU. I mean Elizabeth has to look like a mother of 2 teenagers lol.

I was hoping after Avengers 4 that they would continue with new members like Captain Marvel, Black Panther, Ant-Man, Wasp, Spider-Man etc. it would make sense wouldn't it? I know diddly squat about Young Avengers.

And I believe Young Avengers will be its own franchise.

You will also have time to catch up.
