ANT-MAN Director Hints That Yellowjacket Could Still Be Alive And Inside The Quantum Realm

Yellowjacket's demise in Ant-Man appeared to be pretty definitive but director Peyton Reed has now dropped some very interesting hints about the possibility of him returning to the MCU down the line...

Yellowjacket wasn't exactly Marvel's most memorable villain but he served a purpose in Ant-Man and got exactly what he deserved when it appeared as if every bone in his body was destroyed when he was shrunk down into the Quantum Realm after Scott Lang destroyed his suit. However, could it be that he's still out there somewhere? Ant-Man and The Wasp director Peyton Reed is open to the idea!

"Well, I mean, you guys are making a massive assumption," he said when it was pointed out that Yellowjacket was a typical disposable Marvel bad guy. "There's an assumption here that I'm not quite comfortable with. If you watch his death in the first Ant-Man, the suit is compromised...he shrinks and goes into a thing. I mean, he could be somewhere down there in that quantum realm."

One popular fan theory is that Darren Cross could become M.O.D.O.K. after essentially having his body twisted up and deformed within his suit but that might be a stretch. Seeing him return from the Quantum Realm could be fun, though, especially as it's become clear that location will be further explored somewhere down the line. Would you guys like to see Yellowjacket back in the MCU?

@Luminus - thx, I misssed a lot. Guess there's a clip for everything. But I would take Red Shull, Ronan (could be in the soul stone) and apparently Yellowjacket off this list, right?

@Prime8 - Red Skull, maybe. Without the Soul Stone, he'll die of starvation on that planet, unless Thanos saved him. The other two are dead, until they're not.

@Prime8 - Yellow jacket is as alive as Doomsday is after BVS...Not that much.

@Prime8 -

Despite remarks, Yellowjacket is definitely dead. It was not simply a case of him shrinking, his entire body was sucked into itself like the effects of a black hole opening up inside him.

His mask was broken instantly, meaning he would be unable to survive the shrinking due to the remarks about molecules made in the movie prior - hence the need for a suit when shrinking. Let alone the severe damage to the suit and components.

- His right arm shrunk insanely small and this would have basically destroyed the arm.
- His left of his arms was twisted by the broken suit, snapping it
- His mask was broken and sparking, meaning he would die instantly - as the air molecules would be too large for him (This was told to us in Ant-Man)

So no one saw the city in the quantum realm, when "we" left it? Someone needs to do a screen cap, somehow.

I think the big question regarding whether Yellowjacket is still alive is if there's any demand for him to return. that I honestly don't see happening. Seems more like people bring him up as an example of weaker MCU villains. Personally I'd rather see a return of Malaketh, and Malaketh was an awful villain.

I think Stolls' performance was pretty good. I think he could be brought back but I'd like to see him team up with another villain.
