Evangeline Lilly Reiterates Who Should Play ‘Janet Van Dyne’ In ANT-MAN AND THE WASP

Talking for the first time about returning as Hope Van Dyne in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Evangeline Lilly reveals what she knows about the movie and who she wants to play her mom, the original Wasp.

Prior to the Ant-Man and the Wasp announcement, it was heavily implied that a potential sequel to Marvel's final Phase Two movie would explore the big revelation that Hank Pym's (Michael Douglas) wife and Hope Van Dyne's (Evangeline Lilly) mother, Janet van Dyne the original Wasp, might still be alive somewhere in the quantum realm. And though the winged superheroine was portrayed by a relatively unknown actress in the Ant-Man flashback scene, we only got a close-up of her eyes while helmeted meaning Marvel Studios is free to cast a big name actress for the planned 2018 sequel.

In light of that, Evangeline Lilly was attending the Comic-Con Experience in São Paulo, Brazil over the weekend when she was asked about reprising her Ant-Man role as Hope Van Dyne, taking flight as the (new) Wasp and who she would like to portray her mother.  “I do not know anything about Ant-Man and Wasp,” admitted the actress (via Omelete). “Marvel didn’t tell me anything, but wouldn’t it be cool if Hope was behind her mother (?) and if she was played by Michelle Pfeifer?”

That translation might be a little off, but this isn’t the first time that Evangeline Lilly has suggested Michelle Pfeifer for Janet Van Dyne. During press for Ant-Man earlier this year, Lilly said that it was Pfeifer’s role as Catwoman in Batman Returns that inspired this suggestion for the original Wasp. “That was my favorite of all time of all the comic book female characters,” said Lilly previously. “Not just anybody or anything, not even like in the comic books, Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman.” Now that Ant-Man and the Wasp wil open July 6, 2018, with Paul Rudd returning as Scott Lang and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, maybe Evangeline’s wish may come to fruition. What do you think?

add a little grated mozarella or emental in the center, then gently close it up to a calzone, and only heat from one side, don't flip it

Heat it gently on a low heat, so you get a nice fluffy omelete

If you are Pasto, go ahead and add some sausage (#Neverforget) to the omelete for some nice texture

Pfeifer is awesome, she would be a great addition to the cast, not sure if she would be right for Janet though

I can't wait to see who they cast as Catwoman in the DCEU eventually

Up until recently Catwoman was probably the best portrayal of a female comic character on screen for me.

Also I think MP would be a cool choice for Jan.

Pfeifer with her hair dyed brunette could be a good Janet... Remember Jan is around Hanks age so she fits the role. Don't need a young actress for Jan.
I say go for it, she's an A class actress.

Not a bad choice if you're going for an actress from the 80's to play the Wasp. Sigourney Weaver would be pretty awesome too. To really match the comic book version as I recall her, I might go with Jamie Lee Curtis as she played Helen Tasker at the end of "True Lies" once she was an agent as well.

Based on how old Hank looked in the flashbacks, obvious choice is Catherine Zeta jones, they should have chemistry and she is hot, although still young enough to make sense
