It appears as if Dwayne Johnson's dominance at the box office could be under threat yet again because Skyscraper looks set to debut this weekend with a pretty disappointing $24 million - $25 million opening. While Jumanji was a huge hit, Baywatch proved that The Rock isn't invulnerable to the odd flop and neither Universal nor Legendary are going to be happy with these figures for the action flick.
However, the hope is that Skyscraper will be able to make up for that overseas. Regardless of whether or not that happens, it's fair to say Johnson hasn't exactly delivered the next Die Hard with this!
Just beating the movie to the #2 spot is Marvel's Ant-Man and The Wasp. The sequel hit the $100 million mark at the domestic box office on Thursday and is expected to earn $28 million - $30 million this weekend. Exceeding expectations is Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. That's projected to make $41 million - $43 million, a surprising amount considering the fact it doesn't look that great!
