New ANT-MAN AND THE WASP Concept Art Reveals Agents From A.I.M. In Comic-Accurate Uniforms

Ant-Man and the Wasp saw Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne thwarting Ghost, Sonny Burch and his goons, as well as the FBI, throughout the film. However, newly released concept art reveals that an iconic villainous organization at one point was considered to play a role in the movie: A.I.M.

A.I.M., better known as Advanced Idea Mechanics, was first introduced in the MCU in Iron Man 3 as the brainchild of the film's villain Aldrich Killian. However, the depiction of A.I.M. we got in that movie was a stripped down version of the group from the comic books, and we have yet to see the villainous company appear since.

Concept artist Ian Joyner has now shared a piece he created for Ant-Man and the Wasp that features an unused scene in which Scott and Hope emerge from the Quantum Realm and fight agents working for A.I.M. dressed in the organization's comic accurate uniforms. The scene is made even better by Scott throwing, and then enlarging, a new tardigrade friend of his to aid in the fight.

An unused idea/scene pitch for Ant-Man and the Wasp, once Ant-Man returns from the Quantum Realm I thought a fun gag would be having him toss his new friend tardigrade at the baddies Pokémon style! I also attempted to sneak the classic A.I.M ‘Bee Keeper’ guys into something that might work in the MCU (nothing like this was in the script, just a fun little brainstorm). The fantastic Andy Park was our leader on this adventure!

As Joyner notes, a scene like this was never in the script to begin with and was just part of a fun brainstorm excercise of what could be possible in the movie. He certainly found a way to bring A.I.M.'s distinctive yellow suits to life in manner that could work well on screen in the MCU.

Check out Joyner's awesome concept art below:

Would you have liked to have seen A.I.M. make an appearance like this in Ant-Man and the Wasp? Are you hoping that the organization pops up in a future MCU film, perhaps with MODOK? Be sure to share your thoughts!

Antman and the Wasp has some of the best concept art I've seen yet for an MCU film, almost every piece is amazing. I hope that they utilize some of these terrific, visually creative scenes in Antman 3.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I completely agree. Makes you wonder why they didn't use any of them.

"These are great. Great ideas. Looks like fun. I don't wanna use any of them. What we need more of is the cast standing around quipping ot sitting around and talking. That's what really sells movie tickets. You want butts in seats, burn all this fun concept art, we will improvise jokes on the day."

So does this confirm Sonny Burch's buyers? I hope AIM makes a comeback in the MCU.

@dezdigi - MODOK and AIM would be feel right in the Ant Man franchise. I like that idea.

@dezdigi - Not... necessarily but it makes perfect sense that AIM would be behind Sonny wanting quantum technology. I do think you're onto something though but doubt we will get confirmation anytime soon.

AIM would make a great villain for Antman 3, with Egghead serving as the new leader.

@Benjamitesandwich - they sure would. There really isn't another franchise at this point where they would naturally fit in.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I realize they often abandon long-term easter eggs but I really hope they're at least thinking about bringing AIM back into the MCU. Ant-man and the Wasp need some good villains in the next installment. I hope MODOK can work in the MCU, perhaps there will be a major redesign, but in a good way.

@dezdigi - totally agree. I would love to see AIM, MODOK, and Egghead in Antman 3.

I hope AIM makes an appearance in the next movie. That would be a good replacement for HYDRA.

I'm really curious why some of this stuff was never used.I'm hoping it's because they scrapped it in favor of it being in the third film.

Hmm... Wonder if we'll see them in a future MCU film?

Finally saw it earlier today..

Maybe it's because I've been spoiled by Phase 3, maybe it's because I knew a lot of what was going to happen going in, but IMO it was the worst MCU film in a while.

@Dajugrnot - I'm not. For the first half especially I was just thinking "oh god, this is bad."
Nebula
Nebula - 8/7/2018, 7:41 PM
To be clear, it's not TLJ levels of bad wherein it kills all my hope for the future of the franchise; it was near the serviceable-basic-standard but not quite there. It's not the worst CBM of the year at least, that still belongs to DP2.

Too late for AIM to mean anything in the MCU. Hydra was a big let down when compared to its comic book storyline and the MCU seemed to put all of its eggs into the Infinity War plot.

Let’s get them back for the sequel, real talk. Them and MODOK would be perfect! And hell, maybe have them have Whirlwind on the payroll and his powers are thanks to their tech or even their genetic modification.
Skrull
Skrull - 8/7/2018, 8:16 PM
They should have kept the beekeepers in the movie. Those suits make perfect sense when dealing with insect heroes. Then MODOK could be the big bad for Ant-Men & The Wasps.

I like it.
Give me AIM and MODOK for Ant-Man 3, please.
