ANT-MAN 3 Director Peyton Reed Says The Threequel Will Be "A Much Bigger, More Sprawling Movie"

Ant-Man 3 is officially in the works from Marvel Studios, though very little is known about what fans should expect at this stage. There are plenty of rumours, of course, including a report that M.O.D.O.K. will be the lead villain, while the introduction of Cassie Lang as Stature will set the stage for the Young Avengers to assemble.

During a recent interview with SiriusXm Radio, Ant-Man and Ant-Man and The Wasp helmer Peyton Reed shared an update on his plans for the next movie, noting: "We are working our way through the pandemic...there are some really exciting things in store, none of which I can speak to about right now. As is the Marvel way!"

Asked if he could share any hints about what fans can expect, Reed chose his words carefully, but noted that his next Ant-Man movie will be vastly different to the first two instalments.

"I think the third Ant-Man movie is going to be...a much bigger, more sprawling movie than the first two," he teased. "It's going to have a very, very different visual template. And that's all I will say."

That's undeniably intriguing, and it sounds like Reed has some unique ideas for this third chapter.

While Ant-Man and The Wasp gave Hope Van Dyne equal billing, it also played it a little safe, and fans were disappointed by the decision to spend barely any time in the mysterious Quantum Realm.

Are you excited for Ant-Man 3?

Hopefully a Giant-Man vs. Goliath(Erik Josten) kaiju-esque battle.

Bigger is not always better, but I would guess they're going darker in tone for the third one?

@MyCoolYoung - IIRC, Spencers Scott Lang Ant-Man run was a relaunch due to the first movie, and as someone who's not too into reading ant-man, i'd really just want them to delve more into the tone of that run. Spencers humor really works there and the two movies we got while enjoyable, aren't really anything special.

@MyCoolYoung - especially with how poorly written ant man 2 was. I mean, who makes a moral choice only to resolve both sides with plot magic?

@AbidNaga - I actually hold the position that the first antman, like Dr strange, was really underappreciated.

But yes the second one was just enjoyable, which is fine every movie can't be upper tier.

What's the tone of the run? I'm not familiar

@Origame - lol what are you referring to? Janet being able to heal ghost?
Origame
Origame - 9/1/2020, 6:41 AM
@MyCoolYoung - yeah. The whole point of her and foster being antagonists was because the plan to heal ghost would prevent the heroes from rescuing janet. Not only was this ability never mentioned, making it a deus ex machina, but it just gives a happy ending to a film that was set up for something more complex. Nope, everyones happy. No need to think.

@Origame - yes that is true and something I didn’t take into consideration because I thought the quantum realm would factor into endgame in a better way than it did.

Like instead of the actual time travel they sought to get the stones at subatomic level. Or rather than a rat coincidentally pressing a button I thought they’d bring back ghost and have Scott communicate with her via quantum connection like Janet did to Scott

@WeaponXCII - Why? Seems like such a random villain to pit against Ant-Man. Whirlwind or Goliath(Erik Josten) would make much more sense given their history with the character.

Not interested.

They should have given Wasp her own movie after Ant-Man. This film should'nt even be about Scott Lang or Hope, but instead a prequel with Hank and Janet potentially even exploring Janet's time in the quantum realm.

I'm thinking they gotta introduce the Young Avengers in the third one. Ant Man and the Young Avengers?

Ant Man, the Wasp and The Young Avengers is too much of a title lol.

It would be interesting if the Ant-Man 3 story is related to the time when Scott Lang was trapped in the Quantum Realm.

Perhaps Scott develops a true psychic connection with the ants.

@L0RDbuckethead - Oh like when you’re tardy and rushing to catch up with the rest of the class and “times up” “can I have more time?” “Absolutely not Mr. Cuban, that’ll teach you to be tardy” “so the lesson is to be tardy, got it” “go to the office” “but-“ “NOW!”
