ANT-MAN 3 And THE MANDALORIAN's Katy O'Brian Rumored For Supporting Role In THE RUNNING MAN

Katy O'Brian, who played Jentorra in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, is rumored to be in line for a supporting role in Edgar Wright's The Running Man...

We recently learned that Paramount Pictures' and Edgar Wright's long-gestating adaptation of Stephen King's The Running Man is finally moving forward with Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick, Twisters) in the lead role of Ben Richards, and rumors are beginning to swirl about the movie's supporting cast.

Following on from a recent report that Sydney Sweeney - who previously starred alongside Powell in romantic comedy Anyone But You - is being eyed to play the female lead, Daniel Richtman has heard that Katy O'Brian is also up for an undisclosed supporting role.

No details on who she would play, but there are really only two significant female characters in the book: Richards' wife Shelia and his hostage, Amelia.

O'Brian had a small role in season 3 of The Mandalorian, and also played Jentorra in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. She's been getting a lot of attention in Hollywood thanks to her more recent work in Love Lies Bleeding.

Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Baby Driver, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) was first announced as director back in 2021, and updates on the project had been pretty scarce until we got word that Powell had signed on to star during CinemaCon back in April.

The sci-fi novel, which King penned under the pseudonym Richard Bachman in 1982, was previously adapted as a 1987 movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, but this new take will not be a remake, and is expected to stick much closer to the original story.

King's book is a dystopian thriller set in the United States during the year 2025, when the nation's economy is in ruins and world violence is at an all-time high. Desperate to earn enough money to save his family, protagonist Ben Richards decides to participate in a popular - and incredibly dangerous - game show called The Running Man, which allows contestants to go anywhere in the world... while being hunted down by a team of trained killers.

This is just a rumor for now, but Richtman has been spot on with most of his casting scoops of late, so we wouldn't be surprised if the trades confirm fairly soon - if Sweeney does take the role, that is!

You can check out the trailer and synopsis for the Schwarzenegger movie below.

"In a dystopian America, the country totalitarian state where the favorite television program is The Running Man -- a game show in which prisoners must run to freedom to avoid a brutal death. Having been made a scapegoat by the government, an imprisoned Ben Richards (Arnold Schwarzenegger) has the opportunity to make it back to the outside again by being a contestant on the deadly show, although the twisted host, Damon Killian (Richard Dawson), has no intention of letting him escape."

Her agent is top tier because she certainly isn’t some great talent

@FireandBlood - Have you seen Love Lies Bleeding? She's actually pretty good in that. But also, I think her appeal goes beyond solely her acting talent. I think it's apt that we're talking about Running Man here. Arnold Schwarzenegger was no great talent, acting-wise, but had a combination of a imposing physicality, innate charm, and moderate acting talent that made him a megastar.

@clintthahamster - That's a great movie. Love the ending. Woman drank a can of Pym Particles, lol.

@clintthahamster - @FireandBlood - What the [frick] is wrong with people on this site lately?
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 8/9/2024, 1:21 PM
@TheRogue - I don't know about lately. I feel like it's been pretty toxic around here for at least five years. But yeah, some of these dudes have a real darkness inside, whether they realize it or not.

@LysergicMeinbal - Hey, man. I'm sorry she hurt you, but mental healthcare is more accessible than ever. It's helped me out a lot.

LysergicMeinbal - 8/9/2024, 5:15 PM
@clintthahamster - what her? Did I say anything about a female? Don't put words in my mouth or project your thoughts. The post I replied to said "Her agent".
LysergicMeinbal
LysergicMeinbal - 8/9/2024, 5:20 PM
@clintthahamster - also, why are you gendering? Maybe the actor doesn't go by she, her. But yea worry about what I'm saying instead of actually understanding what you think I mean.
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 8/10/2024, 9:45 AM
@LysergicMeinbal - "what her?"

IDK, your mom, your ex-wife, your first girlfriend. Whatever woman hurt your feelings so badly that as soon as you see a woman, your mind goes to thoughts like "When you blow the right people, you can get work" for no [frick]ing reason.

"also,why are you gendering?"

Because Katy O'Brian's preferred pronouns are she/her.
LysergicMeinbal
LysergicMeinbal - 8/10/2024, 9:52 AM
@clintthahamster - Everyone has had a first girlfriend that broke up with them...this ain't the 50's. But why do you care what I think about sexually? If you're gay that's cool and support you. But we aren't friends so my sexual thoughts and feeling aren't your concern.
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 8/10/2024, 11:05 AM
@LysergicMeinbal - "we aren't friends so my sexual thoughts and feeling aren't your concern."

You're absolutely correct. Your thoughts are your own business. But, something you might not know, is that when you type your thoughts into a keyboard and click "Post Reply" those thoughts become words. And those words betray a deep mistrust and lack of respect for women, which is often engendered by an early emotional trauma, something that a good therapist could help you work through. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

LysergicMeinbal - 8/10/2024, 1:18 PM
@clintthahamster - that was actually well thought out. What you didn't mention is that my response was a deflection,in attempt to put a wall up between you and I. Because I already understand why I made the blow job comment. But since my therapist tells me I should talk instead block...to respond to your comment the right way....my mother molested me when I was child,my father knew about it and threatened to kill the both us when he drank. But also he would lock me in my closet push my bed against the door and pass out in the bed while I cried and screamed. Also I attempted to kill him by chasing him around with knife and he locked himself in his bedroom while I stabbed at the door,he crawled out on to the and screamed for someone to call the police at 16,I ran away and was homeless from 16 to 19 when I joined the Marines.

LysergicMeinbal - 8/10/2024, 1:39 PM
@clintthahamster - maybe, but it's not necessary. It goes under the umbrella of mistrust and "hatred" for anyone who isn't my children. Man,woman, white, not white,tall,short...i don't like everyone equally.
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 8/10/2024, 1:41 PM
@LysergicMeinbal - "It goes under the umbrella of mistrust and "hatred" for anyone who isn't my children."

And your therapist is comfortable with you having an umbrella of mistrust and hatred for anyone who isn't your children?
LysergicMeinbal
LysergicMeinbal - 8/10/2024, 1:42 PM
@TheRogue - i appreciate it....this site actually helps. Because when I show my negative thoughts ,feelings, emotions it makes people say things to me that makes me talk about the trauma instead of bottling it up. Since I'll never see anyone here in real life,I get to raw, honest and open to help me process this stuff.
LysergicMeinbal
LysergicMeinbal - 8/10/2024, 1:44 PM
@clintthahamster - I don't ask what my therapists personal feelings are. She's there for me,I don't concern myself with her feelings.
TheRogue
TheRogue - 8/10/2024, 2:20 PM
@LysergicMeinbal - If you're giving negative feelings towards women then you should tell your therapist. Equally your therapist is a good person trying to help you. You should at least concern a little, as she does for you. Obviously not her personal life but important to know how you trat her
LysergicMeinbal
LysergicMeinbal - 8/10/2024, 2:27 PM
@TheRogue - I mean she knows I have a strong dislike towards women and men. She knows I'm angry and hateful. I don't lie or withhold information. I can't get better that way. I'm not trying to stay angry for the rest of my life...I've been this way for 38 out of 40 years and it's so poisonous, I'm tired of being bitter. It's just turn around 38 years of being one way.
LysergicMeinbal
LysergicMeinbal - 8/10/2024, 2:28 PM
@TheRogue - it's hard^^
TheRogue
TheRogue - 8/10/2024, 2:42 PM
@LysergicMeinbal - Imo thats fair enough. I dont know, I will say this, some evil people will upvote you and embolden you. Its good to have a outlet, but this isnt right place. I would find a good discord, and find a vent channel to talk through your issues and your frustrations rather than the opinions themselves, otherwise some people will tell you are right and just make your issues worse. You are trying to get help, so having a outlet is good and means you know you feel you are doing wrong, just having right way to outlet. What you said to me is good, cause it means you realize the issues themselves rather than what they make you say. So try to keep that in mind.

However at same time what you suffered is horrific, so I can't even begin to understand. All I can say is good luck to you.
TheRogue
TheRogue - 8/10/2024, 2:46 PM
@LysergicMeinbal - To be clear a mental health discord or just find a mental health forum to vent. Its just cause people will understand you have issues and help you best that way. Otherwise they will like feed the behavior or shun you. I also encourage being more open to people and more understanding.
LysergicMeinbal
LysergicMeinbal - 8/10/2024, 3:08 PM
@TheRogue - I don't know how to use disord, isn't that people to make videos of them playing video games? The only social media I have is this. I had a Facebook ten years ago but I don't have any friends or family so I don't have a need for social media. I appreciate your help though.
TheRogue
TheRogue - 8/10/2024, 3:14 PM
@LysergicMeinbal - Nah nah. Discords basically like this, but just for chats, and much faster. Plus you can use it on your phone. Dont worry is easy to use. Im sorry for your past in anycase. Id only ask try to be more open. What we're doing here is good. Try to be more understanding. Venting is good, but try to vent of your issues themselves, than what they make you say. But again its tough, cause im not a therapist, and I dont want to give you bad advice, plus I feel im being cruel in some strange way. Its tough.
LysergicMeinbal
LysergicMeinbal - 8/10/2024, 4:57 PM
@TheRogue - you're good man, some therapists study all the courses they need, get experience and still suck at their job. You're helping just to help instead of a paycheck. I appreciate it.
TheRogue
TheRogue - 8/10/2024, 5:00 PM
@LysergicMeinbal - Thank you. But dont be too hard on your therapist. Id say one issue you may have is prehaps cyncical paronoia. I can connect with maybe you think the therapist doesent care, just like the actress does a blowjob. Neither of these things are true. I'd say work on that, will definility help with your bitterness. Its difficult to say without it sounding like insult, if I do I apoligize.
LysergicMeinbal
LysergicMeinbal - 8/10/2024, 6:51 PM
@TheRogue - nah...you're right....I'd say she only cares because she's paid to. In the same way an actor, politician, hooker act like they care when really they just wanna make sure they can squeeze every dollar they can from people who believe their words. I barely trust anyone who does something because they make money from others.
TheRogue
TheRogue - 8/10/2024, 6:55 PM
@LysergicMeinbal - Maybe, or maybe she really wants to help you. She could have chosen any job with the degree of being a therapist, yet she chose to assist you. Do not be so hard on people or assume the worst
Clintthahamster
Clintthahamster - 8/10/2024, 7:29 PM
@LysergicMeinbal - I appreciate the back and forth here. I believe that my therapist cares about my well being. Maybe that makes me a rube, but she has genuinely helped me improve my life in several concrete ways. But I also have a really excellent support system. I don't know what I'd do without it.

That said, my therapist would never say what I'm about to say: If you drink (but don't have a problem) I'd find a nice, cheap dive bar in your area and just go and hang out. Ask people questions about themselves and listen to their answers, and answer the questions they ask you. I know a lot of folks at my local dive who are more like family than my blood relatives. If you tip well and aren't a dick, the bartenders will love you, too. It's nice.
LysergicMeinbal
LysergicMeinbal - 8/10/2024, 7:46 PM
@clintthahamster - I think that's another part of my issue...I don't have a support system. When my wife died and I got sober everyone whom I thought were friends scattered. That's another reason I have problems trusting people. I have a hard time just talking to random people in public...I guess paranoia could be blamed for that,or maybe I'm projecting my own feelings.....I assume people just want to be left alone and not bothered, that people may be trying to relax and not be disturbed. One reason I stopped trying to date is I always hear how women these days tall,in great shape, well off financially type men,and if you're not that women will feel threatened and call cops and have you arrested for assault (real news articles) and I don't wanna lose my children and life because short ,chubby and ugly and some chick felt afraid.
LysergicMeinbal
LysergicMeinbal - 8/10/2024, 7:48 PM
@clintthahamster -" women these days want"^
LysergicMeinbal
LysergicMeinbal - 8/10/2024, 7:50 PM
@TheRogue - That makes sense...I've thought about trying to be a drug counselor because I've had experience in drug use and loss of life. And if I can help those who suffer get better that somehow I'll heal myself and my survivors guilt.
TheRogue
TheRogue - 8/11/2024, 5:38 PM
@LysergicMeinbal - Sorry I took long to respond. Thats a good idea. I hesitent to say this cause it feels for my own benefit, but try to be more positive on here. Dont get involved in social stuff, cause it just feeds bad bitterness. Enjoy movies and so forth. Dont worry about gender and things like that
TheRogue
TheRogue - 8/11/2024, 5:39 PM
@LysergicMeinbal - Ah im sorry about wife. I too struggle with people. Have you tried tinder or something online? prehaps finding dating support.

Imo you don't even need a date. Just find friends first. And then if a woman who loves you comes along and you trust you all good.
LysergicMeinbal
LysergicMeinbal - 8/12/2024, 2:29 PM
@TheRogue - I can honestly say,I think I'm addicted to being angry and arguing. It's like the my brain starts firing, my pulse races,my skin gets tight. It's like getting high. I read the news and I get so pissed off,but I can't stop it....I mean I can but a couple hours later I'm back at it. I think anger, fighting is becoming my new addiction. I don't get that feeling from reading, watching tv,exercise. But that anger, man it's consumes me and makes me feel alive.
