ANT-MAN AND THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA Concept Art Reveals Quantum Suits; Movie's Place In MCU Timeline Revealed

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania was something of a disappointment when it was released back in February, but amazing new concept art has now been released alongside details on its place in the MCU timeline.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania was supposed to kick Phase 5 off in style, but the Quantum Realm proved to be far less exciting to explore than we anticipated.

Much of that can be blamed on The Volume and an overreliance on visual effects, though there were definitely some redeeming qualities. Unfortunately, most of those were a result of Kang the Conqueror actor Jonathan Majors' stellar performance, and with all signs pointing to his time in the MCU nearing its end amid ongoing legal issues, that doesn't leave us with much to praise!

Today, a slightly more exciting take on the threequel has been teased by Marvel Studios' Director of Visual Development, Andy Park, with new concept art that shows the Ant-Man family decked out in very cool Quantum suits.

Those were clearly meant to protect them in the MCU's Microverse, but the idea was likely dropped early in the pre-production process.

In other news, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania now has a place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's timeline. According to the Disney+ app, it's set in 2026.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law take place in 2025, with The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special playing out that same year. Cassie Lang's birthday is in July, so the events of the latest Ant-Man movie must be happening in the first half of the following year. What significance, if any, this will have remains to be seen, of course.

Check out this new Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania concept art in the Instagram post below.

I watched this for the first time yesterday. I wasn't a great movie, but it was enjoyable. After reading others comments, I was braced for something akin to Love & Thunder, but this was leaps and bounds better than that "movie".

@Eagles0589 - it’s certainly better than love and thunder. I also had higher expectations for Thor than this.

@philinterrupted - Same here. Thor 4 is the first MCU movie that I was happy it was over. I have always been able to find some redeeming qualities in the other weaker movies they have made, but I feel like L & T should have never been made.

@Eagles0589 - the tones didn’t match the story they wanted to tell. It felt all over the place and leaned too far into comedy.

Ant-Man wasn’t that far off of the other two. I’m very surprised at how much hate it’s getting. I understand not liking it, but the pure hate being thrown at it is weird.

@Eagles0589 - Exactly. Wasn't great but also wasn't anywhere near that bad as people said.

@Eagles0589 - good to hear, I have not watched it yet and had not decided if I was going to. L&T was just horrible garbage.

@Eagles0589 - So many people watching this for the first time now are saying this. And it's exactly what so many people said who did watch it in theaters. The critics had an anti-CBM agenda for this one. I mean, there's just no way this movie was worse than Thor 4, Thor 2, or any of the other Marvel Studios films that were subpar.

At any rate, I think it's fair to say, AM3 didn't exceed expectations for anyone. And it may have fell slightly short of expectations. But in no way is it a bad film. It just isn't GREAT. The overly dramatic criticisms are entirely eyerolling.

Last bit -- I will say MODOK was a big let down. They really needed to disfigure his face or something. Leaving it as a perfectly superimposed face just didn't even look right. Maybe blacked out eyes, some scarring, something...

@Reginator - Give it a watch! Go in knowing it's middle of the pack MCU. But it's still a good entry to the AM trilogy.

@Tonic24k - I actually didn't mind M.O.D.O.K, but they shouldn't have husband change of heart come from Cassie calling him a dick, it should have happened because he saw Kang was vulnerable and was sick of being his little bitch.

@regularmovieguy - yeah, why watch something you don’t like?

@philinterrupted

I don’t know maybe I was curious to see how it ends. I don’t think there’s anything I haven’t seen in the MCU. I watched She-Hulk week to week to see if it could get any worse than it did.

@regularmovieguy - so who has the OCD?

I just wish people would talk about the article they’re posting in. Especially if you just came to saying you didn’t like a movie. It’s not like there’s a shortage of Ant-Man articles.

Really enjoyed this movie, exactly what I was looking for from a film set in the quantum realm and with Kang. Cant wait to rewatch.

Why does it take place so far in the future?

Endgame, Shang Chi, Eternals, NWH, Hawkeye etc all teake place in 2023, right? Jumping ahead so much is kinda pointless. Also means that there's been no mention of the end of Eternals other than that one easter egg in She-Hulk.

You could have just said that everything in Phase 4 and 5 is either 2023 or 2024.
I mean it's not like any of them are direct continuations of each other, they all feature different characters.
